“Interesting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

So the menu is interesting. lotsa of south Africa and African flavours, however i think the dishes could be better prepared.
Textures of the food is quite tingly on the palate but i think that the flavour could be better. All in all a good night, decor and ambiance is awesome

“Awesome food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

We were taken there by some friends, who eat there regularly.

We had a very nice table and excellent waiter.

He advised to try the tasting platters, which were divine

The wine choices were excellent as well
All in all an excellent experience, and can't wait to go again

“Odd”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

Great ambience. Nicolway is the place to be after all.
Bad seating. We were seated at an odd1out trestle table with a plain white table cloth that was not decorated like the rest of the restaurant. Felt like a squatter.
Some starters were good (crunchy goats cheese samoosas), others were awful (tasteless chickpea falafels on a bed of very acidic salad)
Seafood laksa main was not at all what I expected. It was a crayfish stuffed with a few mussels and prawns. And like 5 noodles. The butter/ cream based sauce everything was swimming in left a lot to be desired. Complete disappointment.
Chocolate fondue dessert was by far the best. Rich perfectly smooth dark chocolate sauce with fresh sweet strawberries, soft marshmallows and vanilla sponge cake - delicious.
I'm not so sure I'll be back. It was just an odd dining and taste experience that left me somewhat dissatisfied.

“Perfectly balanced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

I have found that ordering a tasting plate with a wine pairing usually results in a hangover without any recollection of whether the food was any good. In this instance there was enough substance to the meal to help absorb the alcohol and make for a memorable evening. It is difficult to set an ambiance in what is essentially a parking lot, but the comfortable chairs and stacking of fresh and canned produce at the serving station works in this setting. The staff is competent and engaging and the meal was delicious. It is definitely worth the visit and money. Highly recommended.
