I stayed with my wife in the Palazzo for almost 3 weeks in December and January. The hotel has a five star rating and is beautifully maintained in the common areas and from the exterior. The pool area is great and you dont feel like you are in the middle of the city when relaxing at it. It is also part of the Montecasino resort so there are plenty of restaurants, cinema's and a casino in secure walking distance. However I found the service from the staff on both ends of the scale. Some were exceptionally helpful and some were uninterested which is not what's expected from a 5 star hotel. It might have been bad luck but virtually every electronic appliance in the room we were in needed to be serviced or replaced while we were there from the TV to the aircon which got quite irritating after a while. The rooms are well presented but on the small size compared to the rates being paid. I believe with a bit of "polish" in terms of service and maintenance the hotel can live up to its 5 star rating and would still reccomend it.

The hotel was a five star hotel, and it fit the online descriptions exactly. Good food, stunning pool, convenient location. The staff was incredibly nice. Concierge arranged for fantastic private tours of items of interest, at a reasonable rate. I would stay there again.

i have stayed at this hotel three times now, all on business, and am very impressed. Staff are excellent, very helpful and actually seem to care. A cut above the Michelangelo and the two SandtonSun hotels owned by the same group.

The Pool deck is a very cool spot indeed with lovely, well presented food available there or in the restaurant.

Has all the things you would expect, a great bar, WiFi that actually works, which is an exception not the rule in Gauteng!!

All in all, I would recommend this hotel 100%

We stayed at the Palazzo Hotel in MonteCasino for 1 night to acutally go and see the Lion King. The hotel was perfectly situated as it was within walking distance from the Teatro. Although I'm personally not very fond of the fake tuscan style in SA, I must admit that this whole complex is very well designed. The hotel itself is everything you would expect from a international 5 star hotel. The rooms were small, but had everything in that was necessary. The bathrooms were well designed with every amenity you can think of. We might have encountered problems with our payments, because 1 voucher was missing from the booking agent, but after producing the necessary copies of paperwork, the reception staff were extremely helpful and told us that they will sort it out. All the staff are very well trained and very friendly. Everyone greets you as you walk past. The Madena dining area is spectacular with the waterfall and double volume windows opening up onto the verandah. All the food is very well presented and extremely tasteful. The gardens are spectacular and very well kept. The only problems I do have with the hotel is that with the breakfast, there was actually a queue to wait for tables. A hotel this size should actually have sufficient space to accommodate at least 2/3 of the people in the hotel for breakfast.
All in all a very good hotel and we'll definitely stay there should be we back in JHB.
