Spent a week in absolute luxury! The staff were all helpful and friendly, it was so nice to walk around and get greeted and smiled at and made to feel so welcome. The attention to detail was impeccable from the small ones like the local decor of soft-drink can flowers, to the opulent and comfortable layout of the Library Bar! I cannot even begin to describe the food - 5 * almost doesn't quite cover it - from the simplest breakfast to the most elaborate fine dining dinner experience everything was simply delicious. I can honestly say that staying at African Pride really helped soften the blow of a week long business conference. Thank you to the team!

What makes a 5 Star hotel is it's attention to detail in ALL respects! The African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel has abundance of this, from the attentive doorman throughout to the waiters in the bar and the restaurant!
The rooms are tastefully and exquisitely furnished to cater even for the most discerning taste! The hotel competes with the very best in the world!!!
This was surely one of the best hotels I've visited in a very long time and will certainly be visiting them again...

Spent just one say in the hotel, in special circumstances. My wife was feeling bad after strong wind in safari.
The personnel was very helpfull, knew exactly what to do, called the doctor from the moment we arrived and insisted untill he arrived fast.
Besides that, the rooms are having a very imaginative design and cosy atmosphere.
In the morning we found the best breakfast on South Africa (and we've been to Cape Grace, Lee Manor etc), with caviar, oysters and champagne.
A special mention for the positioning, surrounded by great restaurants, vibrant life at dinner and nice (but expensive) shopping locations.
Most of all, a safe area in Johanesburg.
Really positive surprise.

Dear Mihai P
The TEAM were very relieved to hear that your wife left in good health!
Your amazing feedback was "additional" caffeine to my breakfast TEAMs’ morning coffee!
We have just implemented Lavender and Lime Macaroons for breakfast - they are worth the return visit!
Thank you for visiting our beautiful country, and for staying with us - see you soon!

Look, I don't want you all thinking I only write bad reviews. But as a marketer I'm a living example of the insight that it's far easier to complain than compliment. In this review, dear traveller, I shall bravely attempt to do both.

Having arrived at the Fire and Ice! hotel yesterday (I believe the local government insisted on the exclaimation mark in response to the vast quantity of citizens who raise their eyes, maybe their voices and certainly their heart-rate when they check in.

Fire and Ice! is most certainly a good descriptor of my check in at the sister hotel. Frankly you'd expect a room to be ready for you when you check in at 7pm and you'd expect that the front desk staff (which in better establishments is called 'reception' - as they generally give a warm one) wouldn't admit to not really listening to you.

Ho hum. I tedious night, no mini bar, no bath tub and no service with a smile.

So I checked in to the MAJESTIC African Pride hotel just a hundred yards and a spritely sprint of a Rimowa away.

Melissa, I shall call her this because it IS her name. Warmly received me and apologised for my poor welcome last night. She made all attempts to secure me a room, even though the hotel was full (probably of pleased guests). No fire/no ice.

Precious, on front desk, was SO enchanting, polite and happy to help when she commented that she liked my Air Asia name card holder, I had to give it to her (I'll need to do some explaining when I get home, but it's all good karma, and I can't even drive a karma).

The room is an executive room. Which means you have a huge sitting area with chairs (always useful) a desk and a safe behind an oil painting of a man breaking into a safe. (I've always believed the best place to hide something is right out in the open).

The bed is heavenly. A bath tub will do nicely (with candles) and the wifi is spanking fast. I'll try the food later, but for now I'm content with a phenomenal check in, a warm welcome and a room that exceeds expectations.

I'll be back, watch my words.

Room Tip: ABP = always be polite. Executive rooms are huge and not a massive premium. Well worth it.

The hotel is perfectly located for an American Business traveler who needs places to entertain for dinner due to the multiple choices of places in the "compound" style setting where the hotel is located. The rooms are very clean, but it is time to update the decor. The lobby looks nice, but the rooms have a very modern 1990's feel to them. The hotel desk service is spotty, but a slight notch above average. The travel desk did an excellent job in arranging cars for transport to meetings and such. The breakfast was delicious and service was the best in the hotel in the lobby restaurant. They had a goofy wifi setup, where you got 500MB for free per day, but then were charged by usage from preset plans. One skype call and the free 500 was shot. Would prefer an unlimited option or included it in the room.

Room Tip: The rooms that face the pool are quieter than those that face the Meat Co and Orient.
