We arrived at hotel from Zambia for an overnight stay. Room was good sized, however problems started when we went to leave room for dinner. Door would not budge. 3 hours later and numerous trades people through our room they finally agreed to move us to another room. What amazed me more that no apology came from the hotel staff until the next morning when we checked out and the porter apologised for the inconvience.

I was exceptionally surprised by this hotel, Had read reviews from tripadvisor before we left describing it as just clean and comfortable which suited us for the price we paid but this hotel was faboulous, Rooms were big and of a 4 to 5 star rating, Casino was very entertaining which ment we didnt need to leave the hotel (this was also described as quite a treck from the hotel, only if your an extremly lazy person....) Staff was very helpful and every need was catered for. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone passing through Johannesburg.

The Metcourt Laurel was a very nice hotel, the 3 star rating should have been 4 star. The rooms are nice decorated and spacious. The hallways and room door are enormous! The breakfast buffet which was included in the price was very good. It was connected to the Emperor's Palace Casino which I was impressed with. Great seafood place with cheap prices for food and drink, the Ocean Basket. Easy shuttle to the airport. Would definitely reccommend staying there.

Very good value for money hotel, is my summary of Metcourt Laurel. The complimentary shuttle bus to the airport was excellent, and the fact it was attached to the Emporer's Palace was also very good - it meant I could wonder down there, take a look at the shops and have something to eat at the food court. The only downside is that sign posting to rooms is very poor and it took me a while to find my room. I met another couple who were also trying to find their room and I directed them, as I had been in their position just 10 mins beforehand! Because it is near the airport, it was quite noisy and there was poor insulation (windows). Overall, a pretty good hotel
