“Absolutely fantastic food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

This is a place for a special occasion as it is a little bit pricey. I suggest "going all out" if you are going to go to DW - have starters, mains and dessert as you won't regret it. The food is creative, interesting and mouth watering and the place is clearly run by a chef who knows what he's doing.

This is one of those places where they have delectable food, fabulous wine and perfect portion sizes. Top top quality, I can really recommend going there if you don't mind spending a bit more than usual.

“Grazing Room Overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

I haven't been to the main restaurant but a group of us decided to try the Tapas menu at the Grazing room attached. The food was beautifully presented and it tasted fairly good but it's not something I'll do again simply because you get hardly anything for rather large sums of money. I am usually happy to pay more at an expensive restaurant but it gets a little too pricey when you have to order 6 or 7 tiny meals. Perhaps they should relook at their pricing structure and give you an option of having 3 tapas meals for so much or 5 for so much or 10 for so much rather then charging for each one individually. The chef also didn't seem very happy to be there but she did make some delicious ricotta spinach balls which were the only highlight of the experience. It hasn't put me off wanting to try the main DW 11-13 restaurant though, simply because they are separate and it's unfair to judge both on one's poor quality.

“Yumtastic”

Visited many times and it always lives up to a very high standard. A oasis in Johannesburg. Their tapas room is also a true delight.

“The Grazing Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

We went there on a Friday night. The tapas are done perfectly, the wine selection is great. The wine prices vary alot, there is something for everyone. Unfortunately there is absolutely no atmosphere in The Grazing Room, and you get the feeling that it is DW 11-13's understudy. It will be able to stand on its own with only a couple of changes to improve the atmosphere to get a lighter more energetic feel. The chef has an open kitchen, and didn't look very happy to be at work. Will definitely visit the main restaurant. Will not go to The Grazing Room in its current state again.

“South African Molecular”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

The menu changes often so there is always something new and exciting to try, unless you have discovered a favourite thing, which is very likely. Food is presented beautifully, and when I last ate there on Sunday every course was delicious. Yes, the setting even by Joburg standards is pretty poor. It is at the back of a rather old convenience centre in an upmarket suburb and the interior decor is a little mainstream and uninspired, but you are there to eat. The service is good, but can be a bit too much at the beginning, just let the staff know you are happy to do certain things for yourself.
