The ambience was extremely pleasant, warm and friendly, it is situated in a quiet suburb that is very central to Wits University which is where I was working from. The garden is beautiful and the rooms are spacious, very tastefully decorated and most important of all, very clean with en suite bath/shower. I enjoyed the healthy breakfast of yoguert, fruit and toast and could have had a cooked breakfast had I wanted one. One really feels "at home" there!

We stayed for 8 days, forced by the circumstances to spend most of the time at the guest house. The landlady and her husband are very accommodating and helpful and the one bedroom apartment very commodious. Good breakfasts with a changing variety of fresh fruit and pastries daily. They have a nice tennis court and pool but we didn't use these. The area is lovely, peaceful, safe and easily accessible to what Jo-burg has to offer. Recommended.

I stay at Avondhu at least once a month for 4-5 days whilst on business in Johannesburg and I really enjoy the fact that each room has its own private entrance, plus a small kitchenette. Due to all my travelling I prefer home-cooked food, and having the kitchenette allows me to buy and cook my own healthy food - not many B&B's have this and then you have to order dinner from a restaurant. The rooms are very comfortable and warm in winter. Dea (the owner) is very friendly and accommodating with specific requests. The B&B is also very well located in Saxonwold. I can highly recommend to other business travellers, especially single ladies who are wanting good security.

Avondhu has what I am looking for - a peaceful suburb, safe and secure as well as close to the shops. Most important it has a fitted kitchen with everything I need to fix my own meals. Breakfasts are excellent and the hospitality warm and very friendly. As I travel a lot I like these small things are importtant. I stay at Avondhu on every trip to JHB.
