“More than a memorable experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

We were graciously welcomed and treated so well. Clico
as a Boutique Hotel is stunning. The decor is tasteful, elegant
and exceptionally comfortable. The setting is similar to that of
a park and Veuve stole our hearts. His wondering around just makes one
feel as though you're at home.

The wooden decks outside the conference center are super and an
ideal venue to work during the day. Quiet and peaceful, with only the
birds for company.

Have no idea who decided on the fresh flowers, but it was one of the
first things we noticed. The room we were allocated, was wonderful.
Everything you needed was available, the beds were so comfortable
and the pillows felt like home! Loved the choice of Charlotte Rhys
products in the bathroom.

With regards to dinner, the restaurant was exceptional. The chairs
are really comfortable and everything was so clean. Our meals were
absolutely delicious and the service, first class. The bread served before
our meal, was fantastic.

Every staff member we met was gracious and obliging and nothing was too much
trouble. It is quite clear that there is a enormous amount of respect among the
staff as this is clearly visible when watching them communicate.

I know I haven't covered everything because there was just so much to
see and so much to experience. I would highly recommend the Clico to all.

A converted former private home with a lush garden, pool and several small lounges offers to be a quiet home for visitors of lively Rosebank, very close to all the nice shops and restaurants of the suburb. Perfect for those who prefer a small, more personal hotel instead of big ones.

Room Tip: with garden view

Celebrated a family members Birthday at the Guest House recently. We were a party of 10 guests. They have a small dining room that is very cosy and tastefully decorated. We did not have a chance to look at any of the other facilities however from the public areas we saw the facility looked very well maintained and clean.
Staff were very friendly and were available for all requests.
The location of the hotel is very well suited for the business traveller if you coming to JNB and needing to do any business in the Rosebank area. Close to the major shopping areas and good access off the main roads running through Rosebank.

As I had mentioned we were celebrating a Birthday and one thing I found strange was that a few days before the dinner, we as guests had to select our choice of dishes. The Guest House had requested this? If wanting to book a dinner just be aware that you may have to select your meals a few days before.........hopefully when you have dinner you will still feel like what you ordered a few days ago?

We stayed here on stopover between Botswana and Mozambique. Our friends and travel guides suggested this spot and it was perfect. The rooms were very clean and quite modern and exceeded my expectations. The hotel staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and we felt very safe during our stay. The location is near many restaurants and shops as well. I believe the breakfast was complimentary during our stay; regardless, it was very nice and easy.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2011

We had big expectations about Clico, but in the end it was not a 5 stars experience (despite it is a 5 stars accomodation).
Plus: convenient location in Rosebank (the commercial centre - however, if you're looking for a more cosy and bohemian spot you better stay in the Melville area), free private car park and free WI-FI.
Minus: breakfast choice was poor compared to other hotels and guesthouses in the same price range. The toilet / bathroom of our room didn't have the door, which is not the best situation when you need privacy in certain moments (to be honest, when I complained to the reception we were offered to move in a smaller room with bathroom door).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with toilet door (if you need that privacy when travelling in couple)

Staying at Clico was one of the best experiences my wife and I have had staying away from home. Clico's public spaces are decorated with beautiful sculptures and paintings, and are richly furnished. Our room was spacious, well-furnished, and comfortable, with a nice view of the pool and arbor. The house is located in a leafy suburban neighborhood and, in South African fashion, the manicured grounds are walled. The owner/chef, Sean, prepares delicious, innovative, three-star meals that were a highlight of our stay. Finally, the friendly and truly helpful staff made our stay in Johannesburg a pleasure. We didn't want to leave.
