5th Avenue Gooseberry guest house was the perfect for us to stay when our family congregated in Johannesburg for an important family event. The staff was sweet and accommodating, the breakfasts great, the garden great to spend time in and the lounge areas excellent to meet with friends and family. We felt very much at home during our stay and the accommodation worked very well for us. Two of us even visited the resident spa for manicures and peducures. A most welcome treat after two long flights. We would definitely stay at this B&B again if the need arose.

We stayed for 5 nights. The service was excellent and we felt truly at home. When friends came over to visit we were able to use the lounge to entertain- with tea and coffee as well as homemade biscuits available. Unfortunately we didn’t realise until later that we could ask for a fridge for our room which would have been a nice addition. The surrounding of the garden and pool are beautifully maintained and add a wonderful ambience. There is great artwork by Susan Berry to enjoy round the property. Warm and friendly service from all the staff which wa much appreciated. Breakfast which was freshly prepared to order was included in the price and was fantastic. We definitely stay again

We stayed here our last two nights in Africa before returning to the USA. The experience was wonderful. We were met by the owner who provided us with suggested activities and places to visit and/or eat, including maps and driving directions. The guest house is an elegant, quiet, and friendly place to stay. The included breakfast was 5 stars. The neighborhood is safe, and there are restaurants and shops within a 3-block walk. Included in our room was a decanter of sherry and chocolate candies. It was a wonderful way to end our three-week vacation in Africa!

I stayed at 5th Avenue Gooseberry Guet House for 3 days & had a really wornderful experiences. The 4 things that I really liked about the place were: a homely kind of experience while staying there, they had a personal touch in all services that their staff provide to each guest, bird watching in the garden early morning & evenings & beautiful paintings at all places (which I guess is out of the owner Susan's passion for art).

i would highly recommend this place.
