I booked a romantic night at Zulu Ngala Country Manor for Saturday the 26th of January for me and my husband. Lucky i studies the mab before leaving for our destination as there where no direction boards along Ceder Road to indicate the turn off to the venue.
On arrival we recieved a very warm welcome by the reception staff, and the room was beautiful, reception also arrange to have the aircone switch on before we arrive at our room that was very thoughtful seeing that the temp outside was 35 degrees.
We unpack and immediately set out to explore the ground armed with my trusted camera, we found several wild animals in a camp to my delight. We also notice staff running around preparing for a wedding that would take place that same Saturday afternoon.
On return to our room we start preparing to go for dinner. On arrival at the resturant we notice a table was set outside on the patio as to what seems to be a birthday party.
No waitors was in or around the restuarant to welcome us or show us to our table, so we seat ourselves. We waited for another 5 minutes before my husband got up and ask for assistance at the kitchen door. The rest of the evening the restuarant was empty and no waitor in site, if we needed something you had to wait until someone goes to the kitchen so that you may ask for a waitor.
We sat almost halve an hour before my husband got up to ask if we may serve ourselves at the buffet table that was still closed. the buffet consist of rice, bake patatoes, raw carrots and beans, one bake fish dish and one steak fillet dish as main course and no sauces on te table and for dessert and a very dry bake cheescake with no cream or custor.
We were tempted just to get up and walk out of the restuarant due to bad service however decided to be a good citizens and ask for our bil from the kitchen staff due to the lack of waitors in the restuarant. We got a R414.00 bill, we where charge a whooping R400 for the food alone, this was a huge shock so that we had to ask twice just to make sure the waitor did not punch incorrectly. The food on the buffet was not even R120.00 worth yet was charge R200 per person.
We love eating out and visit several restuarants and lodges before and yes we did pay R200 per person before but then you had a huge variety of food to choose from, from the starter right down to the desert and the waitor was always around never did we had to get up to call a waitor even though they were busy with another function.
The Sunday morning we were awake in the early morning by staff passing the rooms talking loudly to each other without consideration to the guest that is still sleeping.
We consider not to go for breakfast the following morning but decided to go anyway since breakfast was included in our price we paid when we booked the room. Breakfast was sligtly better and more waitors were visiable on our arrival.
In my opinion guests are neglected when there are functions held and do not recieved the service they deserve and paid for.
