We discovered this quite late in our stay around Joburg so we feel a bit silly. Its much better than the other places we stayed but is a bit expensive but not overly so. They have very nice ablutions and a self catering kitchen to rival the best. The site is mostly level for your overland truck but they don't really want the BIG trucks so your Land Rover or Cruiser will be welcomed but a 9000kg monster may require a phone call before. The owners are hospitable and very helpful and they can provide a lot of information on local attractions. They even gave a pretty good guess a local cimema times for the theater not too far down the road. All in all if the price was a little lower we would have happily stayed here for a few more days. Its quiet and well equiped. They have some cabins which although we didn't stay in them looked very good. It was cold when we stayed in winter but the showers were very hot even considering the near zero temperatures. I'd give the ablutions a resounding 5 stars, and the kitchen 5 stars, The site is also well placed so another 5 stars there. The only thing letting them down in my eyes is the 180 rand price for two camping. Considering its off season a slightly lower 130 rand would be better. There are other places in the area that are 130 and 150 but were they as good? Not really, but a price to reflect the season would be welcomed. Stay here again, ABSOLUTELY.
Its a little hard to find so make sure you put the full address in your sat nav and then use the house numbers to guide you to the correct gate. We noted that TomTom doesn't recognise the street numbers for the site but since all the houses are numbered on the road in question its breeze to find even at night. The site isn't marked and altough it just looks like another farm/house the number 97 gives it away. A sign for the establishment would be welcomed i feel.
You may ask why not the excellent rating? Its very rare for me to give out an excellent. Excellent to me means it ticks ALL the boxes. A very good means is ticks nearly every box and theres nothing wrong with it at all. So on balance this is a 4 and almost a 5.
Mobile coverage on MTN was good. 3G for internet and Skype was good and speeds we great. I didn't manage to get 3.5G however. I presume this is due to the site being near the the Airport. I must say we never heard any noise at all from aircraft in the evening I typed this review. It was very quiet indeed.
Never used the rooms but they all looked about the same. Camping site is flat next to the duck pond...
