Stayed for 1 night so that we could visit Monument Valley. Arrived late and tired to frosty reception from check in receptionist. Accomodation excellent but looked like relatively new hotel. Bed comfortable. Room size good. Breakfast with usual waffles, cereals etc. At check out again staff had no communication skills.

I rate this property "very good" because of the overall quality of the room and common areas. The service was distant and impersonal. This hotel caters to bus tour groups and they seemed to be doing a good job serving them. As a single perhaps I wasn't important enough to provide great service. Another peeve is the bedroom window that doesn't open. I like fresh air at night, not a stuffy room or a noisy a/c. Upscale breakfast was a plus.

If you travel through Monument Valley, this or the hotel in Monument Valley are the best options.

The hotel is clean. The free breakfast is excellent. Stay on the top floor if available. The single elevator is a little slow but that's fine. Wireless works well. The staff is friendly. The restaurant for dinner is good but sometime very busy. There's a Burger King just next door. . There's a car was in Kayenta on west side of the highway to Monumenet Valley if you need one.

Without trying to be a jerk, this is the hotel/motel for Japanese tours so you know you should not be disappointed.

I have stayed in this Hampton more than a couple fo times and it has always been dependable and reliable. It is a nice hotel/motel. It is a little pricey but for my money it is where I would stay.

Room Tip: I always prefer upper or top floors.

This really could be a nice place to stay, they have obviously worked hard to set high standards of finish, cleanliness and decor

But.......

The staff make it a frustrating place to visit. From the moment I made the reservation directly by phone the people at the hotel were dismissive and inconsiderate. The agent who took my call got the booking then totally dismissed any request for a room on the top floor out of hand with a " yeah yeah of course" reply.

Don't think that any request will be dealt with, the phones are much more important than a customer wanting to check in. The senior woman on reception deliberately told the younger woman to take the calls rather than serve my wife and I. A request for a room on the top floor was instantly dismissed " we are full tonight" was quickly replied to me as she handed the the room key that already had my name on it. Definitely a case of all bookings being pre allocated to suite the check in staff.

The restaurant was a disaster. Main course served before the appetiser. The appetiser was a mushroom dish and they were cold. The main, a chicken salad had some of the most rubbery chicken pieces I have ever tasted on top of it.

Hope you get lucky if you stay here and they have a few more check in staff around or a few more competent kitchen staff. The rest of the hotel is not that bad but the staff on duty 9th May were undertrained, to few or just did not give a hoot.

Room Tip: Look elsewhere

We were driving from Moab, UT to Page, AZ and chose Kayenta as a stopping point. The hotel is pretty new, so it's quite good for the area. It has an ok restaurant (separately reviewed), a gift shop (where you have to pay your restaurant bill for some reason), and a small pool.

The room was clean. I liked the post-it-note on the headboard letting us know that the duvet cover had been cleaned for our arrival - sometimes you never know what's clean and what's not in budget hotels. There was a flat-screen TV, a (slightly noisy) air conditioner at the window, a desk, individual cup coffee maker in the bathroom, free (pretty good) WiFi, and a decent shower (over bath). No fridge though.

The hotel is positioned between a Burger King and Sonic Drive-in. I'd probably eat here rather than at the hotel - and they're in easy walking distance. There's a drab shopping mall run by the Navajo Nation next door. It looked so unappealing that we didn't even bother.

If you're visiting Monument Valley and aren't going to stay at one of the 2 hotels with a view of the mittens, this is probably the best option in the vicinity.

The room temperature was great. The rooms were clean. It was quiet. Watch for the locals trying to get in your rooms!!! Not too far from Monument Valley. They don't stock your bathroom with anything but soap and shampoo not enough for 2 guests. Complimentary Breakfast was okay. Not much for health conscious people, other than fruit.
