“Very clean, very comfortable.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

Lovely hotel, and fairly reasonably priced, considering the proximity to Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly. Front desk personnel and waitresses were very friendly and professional. Room very clean, and well-furnished. Comfortable bedding. We happened to come in for supper right after a tour group returned, so perhaps the wait for a meal was a little longer than usual, but we still enjoyed sitting & looking out the windows.
This hotel is close enough to Monument Valley, to be able to drive up to the park in time to enjoy the sunrise, and is considerably less expensive than the hotels in the park.
Our only disappointment was that we asked about staying an additional night, when we first checked in. The front desk told us that all we had to do, was to let them know in the morning. When we were leaving for the day, we did this and....unfortunately.....the hotel had booked up overnight. We wish they'd given us some warning that they were that close to being booked up. However, they did make a recommendation for another hotel in the area that night.....Kayenta Mountain View.....and indicated that this was the only other hotel they would highly recommend.

Room Tip: There is probably not a "bad" room in this hotel, location-wise. We are older middle-aged...

OK, so this may not be exactly desert, but for such a remote location, it is sure nice to have a clean, nice hotel to stay in. Kayenta is a very small town, and I wouldn't trust many hotel brands for providing a clean room. This hotel was amazingly clean, and the food was great too if you choose to stay here for dinner. Breakfast was even better than the average Hampton Inn, with fresh made cinnamon rolls. The outdoor pool and fireplace is very nice, although you won't be swimming if it is cold out. There is even a nice store inside selling a variety of items. We stayed here for a trip to Monument Valley and it is only a 30 minute drive for what might be the nicest hotel anywhere near Monument Valley.

Room Tip: The hotel is situated far enough away from the road that street noise shouldn't be a problem.

Way out in the middle of a vast, sparsely populated area of Arizona, a canteen of water is highly appreciated. But the Hampton Inn goes a lot farther. It has great rooms, appealing decor, and ample comfort. The food is good, too, at a restaurant inside the hotel, open till nine or ten at night. Monument Valley is close by and very significant in terms of both Navajo and American history, culture, and religion. There are other hotels, too, but this one is hard to beat from several points of view.

Room Tip: Some rooms have sofas, if these are a factor.

Despite this property's location near the main drag, my room was very quiet. The king bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. I travel extensively across the Navajo Nation for business and I know the options are limited as far as accommodations in most rez towns, but as far as Kayenta/Monument Valley goes, this is your best bet. The buffet breakfast was quite good and staff made sure all choices were well stocked and fresh. All staff, from the front desk to housekeeping and restaurant, were courteous and helpful.

My only complaint is the overpowering scent of the fabric softener or detergent used on the bedding. I am not especially sensitive and use scented fabric softener on my own laundry at home, but the strong perfumed scent on the bedsheets was too much. I got a headache and my throat was burning. I slept with the covers no higher than my waist. I can only imagine the difficulty this would pose for travelers with allergies or sensitivities. I would suggest that management consider reevaluating their laundry supplies. A powerful perfume odor does not equate to clean - in fact sometimes it causes one to wonder if it's covering something else up.

Hotel is very convenient to Monument Valley. Night manager was very helpful in getting us checked in and informing us that they followed daylight savings time on the Navajo reservation. He also gave us tips on how to tour Monument Valley with our own car. Hotel was clean and comfortable and the lobby was quite relaxing with the fireplace. Would definitely stay there again.

There are few places to stay near Kayenta, and the Hampton Inn is your best bet. Typical chain hotel, reasonably clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. The hotel was a bit expensive for what it is, but if this location is what you need, this is your place. We wanted to explore Navajo National Monument early in the morning without a long drive, and the Hampton Inn Kayenta was the best choice - worked out very well. No problem staying here again.

There aren't many places to stay in Kayenta, and the Hampton Inn is the best. It's a short drive to Monument Valley and much less expensive than the hotel in the park.

Hampton Inn is clean and convenient. The rate includes breakfast, which is pretty good. There is a gift shop in the lobby as well as a restaurant. We had dinner at the restaurant and were pleased with the quality of the food and service. The area was comfortable, with a working fireplace. During our meal, we saw many locals and their families eating there, most of them dressed in native costume and speaking the Navajo language. That's quite an endorsement!
