Stayed here two nights, and found it most agreeable . . . has 3 restaurants also, only tried Ginger, but that too was .. The hotel arranged bike hire for us, which was nice, and biking is easy on the flat sea front. The views were great, and the staff friendly. The room was clean, and couldn't have asked for more with brekky

“Good location, helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

We stayed one night at The Beach Hotel at the start of 6 days travelling along the Garden Route. Initially we were given a room on the first floor that was dark, old fashioned and had a restricted view of the sea. There was a problem with the air conditioning and after initially trying to fix it, the hotel moved us to a room on the ground floor. The room was wonderful. It had big windows and a lovely view of the ocean. The staff were polite and helpful throughout our stay and eager to please. The breakfast was average though and I was disappointed that the pancakes with maple syrup was actually, "Maple flavoured syrup". Avoid the pancakes! Rest of the buffet was fine.

“Tired rooms and facilities. Polite staff.”

The rooms are in need of an update. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was below average, but the restaurant adjacent/connected was very good.

“An Average Place to Stay Overnight”

My family and I stayed 1 night at The Beach Hotel at the start of our week traveling the Garden Route. The hotel itself is older and a little worn, although that is somewhat off-set by the personality of the property. The rooms themselves were looking their age but were at least reasonably clean. The majority of the staff were very helpful, particularly the bell-men and front desk stop, but the service from waitstaff in the restaurant was pretty horrible.

All-in-all The Beach Hotel was a fine place to stay for one night. If you're going to stay longer however, there are other options that will prove you a better value for your money.

“Service, Staff, Choice & Location make up for tired accommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2011

I Acknowledge some of the other reviews concerns about rooms etc being tired but in my view the location, staff, food, views, and value make up for it.
