I was really surprised by Brookes Hill Suites. The accomodation was lovely - clean, spacious rooms (that were kept that way on a daily basis) and a wonderful view of the beaches and gardens below.
The staff there were very friendly and accomodating.
I don't know if it's because of booking via a website, but our booking did say 'double bed' and we got twin singles. Not the end of the world though.
The breakfast (which was included in the price of our stay) had plenty of variety of hot/cold food alike.
It is very conveniently located for those who just want to relax at the beach all day and if you don't want to walk across the road, you can lounge by the pool in the complex.
Parking in-season within the complex was sometimes tight, but everyone was fitted in.
Overall, a fantastic, comfortable stay and we will definitely be back!

Brookes Hill was an excellent choice for our time in Port Elizabeth. The room size is a bit bigger than the average and it even has a kitchenette which came in handy. Value for money: clean, breakfast superb,great views (toward the pier side)service 7* and safety. Brookes Hill is in a league of it's own

The web site for this hotel would have you believe that there are spectacular views and spacious rooms -- not so. Fortunately we were only there for one night and, as we arrived late and do not know Port Elizabeth, we elected to stay. We, two couples, had booked two rooms with either king or two twins in each. As soon as we arrived I specifically asked which they were and was told after a little hesitation that they were side by side twins. When we and the lone porter lugged our bags to the rooms (up and down stairs - no elevator)- they both had queen beds. When I returned to the desk the young woman who had assured me the beds were as specified in our booking, picked up the phone turned her back on me and refused to deal with me. Finally a young man came out and rectified the problem and we went to our rooms with the proper beds. However, our small room reeked of smoked, was grubby with a cramped, airless bathroom that had rust and other unidentifiable material on fixtures, tiles and door. The final straw was when our friends came down to share our safe (their room did not have one) and sat on a chair and the seat gave way. Our sea view was over the top of most of the fast food restaurants in town, a major road and parking lots. We found it is a tour group hotel next morning when we had to fight for the average breakfast. There is no restaurant in the hotel. I would not recommend this place to anyone -- it's just nasty!
