“An Incredible Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

What an amazing experience to be with humpback whales, mothers & calves, 150+ dolphins, both bottlenose and humpback in their environment. Also to be with someone who is happy to share his knowledge of the marine life we are with is fantastic.
Not only was this an enjoyable time spent at sea but educational as well, and unforgettable. Looking forward to the next trip.

“Highlight of a one-month trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

The +3-hr Raggy cruise into Algoa Bay, guided by owner Lloyd Edwards in person, was the best we could have ever hoped for. We were sooo lucky to not only have seen mother-and-baby whales close up (Lloyd is the only operator allowed to go very close), with one baby jumping right out of the water, but also a 'dolphin soup' (so many dolphins together that the ocean surface looks like bubbling soup) at St Croix 'Penguin' Island (the penguins were moulting, i.e. were all home on their rocky island, none out on the ocean), the cruise's final destination. We had caught a beautiful, calm, sunny day (only one person out of 11 got sea-sick), and even got a bit sunburnt (something to watch out for when doing this cruise).
We learnt that Lloyd also does educational work in the PE local communities (apart from cruise, rescue and diving work), while his wife conducts penguin research. In short, no R800 ($80 at Nov 2013 exchange rates) could have been better spent! We finished with a good lunch at the Sailing Club, the berth of Raggy Charters' two 'cruise liners' (1 for tours, 1 for research).
One thing: don't do as we did, which is to look for their office in PE harbour. There isn't one. Bookings can only be done by phone or email ... and you have to find your way to the harbour yourself (we got lost several times, so it's wise to check out the route beforehand in order not to be late for the 8.30 a.m. departure).

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

We did the tour a second time and it was wonderful. Not only di we see a big group of dolphins, we also had a chance to find a big group of penguins who just finished hunting. We will definitely return a third time
