“A great location to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Great location, beautiful view, very friendly staff, just the access to the beach could be easier organized... Even our car was cleaned and a member of staff recommends tours and excursions... Recommendable

Thank you for your kind review. The ever-changing river mouth around Milkwood Manor does keep us guessing where the beach will be! We hope to see you again soon.

We spent 2 nights at the Milkwoodmanor with its special location between the lagoon and the sea, nice cosy room with a lost of air and sun light, very tidy and clean. But the best is the breakfirst on the large terrace of the enclosed Restaurant Lemongrass with the stunning view over the beach and the breaking waves of the ocean. Owner/staff were very attentive and personally looked after us to get the most out of our stay in Plettenberg and surroundings with helpful tips what to do and to see. Went both evenings for Dinner at the Lemongrass and were delighted by the quality and selection of food served.

Room Tip: If you want a room facing the sea you should book well in advance, the same is recommended for the L...

This is a beautiful hotel in a fabulous location - we had a room with the sea on one side and the lagoon on the other; just beautiful. The service is excellent, friendly and unobtrusive. The adjoining restaurant serves some of the best food we had in two weeks in South Africa. The rooms are comfortable, decorated in a simple but imaginative way. Kees very helpfully provided lots of information about activities in the area around.

Room Tip: Rooms 2 and 6 have the best view; rooms on the ground floor are best

We spent 6 nights at Milkwood Manor just before Christmas. Plettenberg Bay is a great location, perfect for visiting the many things to see and do along the Western Cape. Milkwood Manor was perfect for us: relaxed but with great service and in a beautiful location. Our 8 year old daughter was able to explore the beach before breakfast, and our teenage sons could relax and chill out in the sun or the shade. The rooms were spacious, well equipped and nothing was too much trouble for the hosts. Kees is a mine of information on things to do, and very helpful in suggesting the best times to swim and kayak, depending on the tide. Kayaks were provided free, which was a wonderful bonus as we were able to explore the beach island next to the hotel with ease. This can also be reached by walking/wading at low tide.

Breakfast in the restaurant was good: at 8-9am a little early on one morning for our sons, but it encouraged us to make the most of the day! We also ate there on three evenings and one or two lunches. The menu is excellent and the staff were great - in particular Roderick who looked after us superbly.

There is no air conditioning, but fans are provided and we found that this was fine, even in hot weather. It is so quiet that we could leave the windows open at night and go to sleep to the sound of the sea. If you love peace and quiet but a location close to many popular sights, then Milkwood Manor is definitely the place to go. We will definitely be back!

We recently stayed at Milkwood Manor for three days. It is charming and situated in a beautiful position "right on" the ocean. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Our host Kees was a wealth of information and we enjoyed his impromptu tourist guide sessions - pointing out all of the local attractions

Meals in the restaurant were enjoyed whilst taking advantage of the beautiful view. Surf beaches are only a short drive away. We can recommend the Manor for a very relaxing stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking out over the ocean.

Beeing here 2 years ago, we come back again. The house itself seemed renovated, the rooms were looking very new.
Our room was spacious and had a L-shape Pation facing the lagoon.
The bed was fine and the bathroom nice and not to tight.
Breakfast was in a buffet style, but with the option to get hot breakfast cooked to order.

We spend the evening in the Lemongrass Restaurant, it was excellent. Very good fish and the winelist is fairly priced.
If back in Plettenberg, Milkwood Manor would be again our first choice.

Room Tip: any room facing the lagoon
