What an expected surprise we had when we went to Jerome to visit the Caduceus winery. My husband and I stopped in to grab some lunch. After spending almost $200 on wine we opted for the inexpensive soup/salad/sliders combos and boy did we hit the jackpot! I got the wedge salad and slider combo. The salad was delightful and what one would expect from a wedge salad and although it was a 'mini' it would almost be enough for a meal if eaten alone. The turkey and cranberry slider was a refreshing take on one of my favorite day after Thanksgiving left overs but the chicken salad slider was the BIG winner of the day! I could have eaten 5 of these little guys if I had a bigger stomach and saved part of my sandwich to be the last bite of the meal so it was the last taste in my mouth! The perfectly cooked chopped chicken was mixed with red and green onions, celery, grapes(?), and house made candied nuts all tumbled in a mixture of mayo, sour cream, and a house vinaigrette. The house made candied nuts are the real secret in this creamy chicken salad; after tasting the creamy onion you taste the perfectly cooked, lightly seasoned chicken and finish with the expected cinnamon and....NUTMEG from the in-house candied nuts... if my brakes when out on the way back down the mountain side I would have died happy! Great Job on this unexpected treat! The polite, attentive, and local staff really top the whole experience off and make this cute little café go into the 'must return' column of vacation eateries.
