Heber is nothing more than a loosly strung together collection of stop-offs on I260, so you can't really expect a whole heck of a lot, but the Sawmill was better than expected and certainly not the worst of this class of hotels/motels that I've stayed in.

The room we had was on the first floor in the rear. We were able to park right in front of our door, which made unpacking/packing a much easier process.

The room was a good size, though my traveling companions found a previous guests unfinished tube of toothpaste under the bed as well as the ever-popular unidentified hair under the supposedly fresh sheets.

The beds were not bad and the a/c actually worked, though we really could've done without it. The bathroom was clean and check-in/check-out was simple.

The breakfast is cold cereal, toaster waffles, store-bought pastries and instant oatmeal. Nothing fancy but for free, what do you expect? They had a separate dining area for this self-serve breakfast, which was a nice touch.

One word of warning: This is the country, and nothing much stays open past 9PM. We had to scramble to find any place that was serving dinner at that hour so if you're looking for a real meal, eat on the early side or eat elsewhere before arriving.

This is a great alternative to staying at the much more expensive cabin rentals nearby which are at least three time more expensive.

Check in time was advertised as 1500 but we got there at noon and were still able to check in, which was a big help.

The continental breakfast consisted of cereal and pastries which was of very good quality.

Overall this was a very nice suprise for a hotel in this area, very clean and professional. A great place to base yourself out of to go and enjoy the rim country.

We stayed here for a family reunion in town and I was pleasantly suprised. It is a basic hotel with no upgraded amenities but the rooms were clean and the staff was very professional. We had two rooms, a basic one and a larger one with a fridge and a microwave and a sleeper sofa. The kids enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and although basic, it was adequate. I appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms and the tv was large and worked well with basic cable channels. {The other motel I saw in town looked scary}. I would recommend this motel. The staff is very friendly.
