Stayed at this hotel purely because we went to a Coyotes Hockey match and it was the only hotel in walking distance of the Arena. Nice rooms, nice hotel-had a gym, indoor and outdoor pool. The problem with this hotel is the exorbitant price we paid $349 plus tax for one night and they didn't even throw breakfast in! Also kept up by the horrendous sound of the water pipes everytime someone near by had a shower you could hear it as though they were taking a shower in the room. By the time we left we felt totally ripped off.

“Excellent hotel”

Renaissance Glendale Hotel & Spa

The Renaissance in Glendale was a great find.
It is only a few months old (finished 11/07) and a great facility.
Service, as you would expect at a new hotel, was great.
Very comfortable room, very spacious and well designed.
Excellent pool and workout facility.
Attached conference center looks good - did not attend anything but walked around.
Business center has 2 PCs with limits on time but have free internet access (hopefully that won't change).
Courtyard in the center is a very nice place to relax - has fire pitts and heaters in the evening.
Location is good for those going to sporting events. like hockey and football or spring training baseball.
Highway 101 is easily accessible and should get you anywhere fast.
Did not use the restaurant - menu a bit pricey but looks good.

“Overall good experience at the Renaissance”

Overall, our experience at the Renaissance Glendale was good. The rooms were very nice and spacious, clean, and obviously new, and the hotel overall was lovely. The hotel housekeeping staff were so honest that we left a room service tip that they didn't take -- twice!

We ate breakfast in the restaurant a few times. One day was a great experience (fast, attentive service). One day was fine (decent service, just one hiccup with forgotten ketchup). Sunday morning was a disaster, however. It was the most incompetent combination of staff I have ever experience. Guests were asked to wait until tables could be cleaned off, despite there being many tables already cleaned and set. We pointed this out to a server, and this expedited our seating, since the hostess had disappeared and no progress had been made in clearing tables. We waited 10 minutes after being seated before someone came over to greet us and take any kind of order. The wait for food was incredibly long. When it arrived, toast was cold. Waitstaff were nowhere to be seen. At one point, a line of three to four parties had queued up for over five minutes to wait to be seated with no hostess in sight, and no other wait staff willing to help them. Other guests, finding it impossible to get basics, were left to obtaining silverware and sugar from other tables. We did see one other party complaining to management, and I hoped that they handled it appropriately. We were late for an activity and didn't have time to bring the issues to management's attention.

It is true that the hotel is harder to access when a hockey game is ending. Some roads are closed or made one-way in order to help the traffic flow out faster. We definitely had some difficulty getting back to the hotel during this time, especially when pedestrians were pouring out of the arena and we just couldn't get across the roads. However, the traffic issue wasn't such an inconvenience to detract that much from the experience.

The other hotel staff were very nice and did an excellent, hospitable job, and we would consider staying here again.

I stayed at the hotel for 2 days with my friend that is looking to relocate to AZ. from CA.. The person to check us in asked about why we were there and gave us so much helpful info. about the jobs, wages, job climate, where to look etc. Next, the bellman was also very helpful on good places to eat for lunch and dinner.

The room colors were pretty wild, oranges and red, my friend said the carpet made her dizzy. But the beds were so comfortable with light down comforters and many shapes and sizes of pillows.

We parked just across the valet parking in the public parking lot. It was $11-$13 to park in the hotel, which we chose not to do.

We didn't eat meals there so I can't say anything about the food. We had breakfast at The CrackerBarrell across Glendale Blvd. on the left side of the street and had a $2.99 breakfast. But we did go to the bar one evening and the staff there was also very friendly and nice.

When it was time to check out, the bellman was also very nice and the girl at the desk offered to mapquest us to Prescott, which was our next destination.

I would definitely stay there again, but the food and parking is very pricey.
