“Good Italian in Gila Bend? Si!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

It's not Manhattan's Felidia, but it is a pleasant surprise for travelers making their way south from Phoenix to westbound I-8. Deli sandwiches, pizza and a variety of homey Italian dishes in a very casual place frequented by locals (population: "1700 friendly people and 5 old crabs"), tourists passing through (Space Age Lodge is right across the street) and US/international military from the nearby AF base -- even Prince Harry! We enjoyed the chicken pesto, homemade manicotti, chicken alfredo, jalapeno poppers, chilled salads and four beers -- all for less than $67 -- plus a tip for the very friendly and knowledgeable waitress.

“Recommended by Royalty!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

My wife and I drive regularly from Tucson to visit a daughter in Buckeye, and we’ve taken to stopping in Gila bend for lunch on the way. This dusty little burg has, for us, long been a pit stop, gas and very nice rest rooms at the Shell off 85. Not long ago, finding ourselves way ahead of schedule just before noon, we decided to check out “downtown. “ The first restaurant we noticed was Little Italy, and so went in for a sub. While ordering at the counter, we noticed a picture of Britain’s Prince Harry posted nearby on a bulletin board! Next to that was a letter from his highness himself extolling the virtues of Little Italy! It seems he was there for training at the nearby Air Force facility, and began frequenting the place with his mates. Harry’s favorite menu item is one of Little Italy’s fabulous pizzas. This is a guy who eats at Buckingham Palace. How about THAT for a recommendation? Thinking we had stumbled on a secret treasure, we made a beeline for the nearest table excited to sample the subs. In a word: GREAT! They bake their own breads, and the cold cuts are superb. We both concluded that this is among the very BEST food we’ve discovered while traveling. Furthermore, we’re obviously not the only ones who think this way! The place always seems to fill up quickly for lunch, and we hear that dinner is equally popular. You would never expect it to be as good as it is. Drop off I-5 and try it! We highly recommend this little gem of a place to all our friends. The service is great too. It’s clean, friendly, very affordable super-good food and recommended by famous royalty. What more can we commoners ask?

“Good Service and Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

My sister and I stopped at Little Italy Pizza & Italian Restaurant for supper. The greeting from the owner was friendly and we were seated promptly. Hannah, the young waitress who served us addressed us as 'ladies' not 'you guys' and was knowledgeable about the menu. We each had a glass of very nice Chardonnay, which was reasonably priced. For dessert we ordered two cannoli which she boxed up for us to take home. It's as good or better than the cannoli at Rocco's on Bleeker Street in Manhattan, and that's saying something.

“Good value”

Few choices in Gila Bend, but this one had good pizza and good service. Also had more atmosphere than other places we checked out. Good variety of beer, too!

“Always Good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

We winter in Gila Bend and dine regularly at Little Italy. There are 2 other full service restaurants in town but Little Italy is by far our favorite and that of our guests. Great food, a good and varied menu, and dinner rolls that make my mouth water thinking about them. Have had various pasta dishes, calzones, hot subs, stromboli, dinner salads, and pizza, and all have been excellent. Big portions, reasonable prices, and a friendly and accomodating wait staff make this the place to stop whether you're passing through or staying in the area and looking for a place to dine.
