“Clean, good value, needs maintenance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This hotel appears well-maintained on the surface. It is an aging property and it appears management is struggling to keep it up. The room was clean, with good carpet, good quality beds, and new TV. The HVAC unit was quiet. The hot breakfast was good. Mine was a basic room, no frills. The switch on the bedside lamp was broken so I had to unplug it to turn it off. The fridge controls were broken. I checked the fridge temperature when I got up this morning, 18 degrees F. Nothing was frozen yet but I had to unplug it to prevent freezing. The sink drained extremely slowly. It appears housekeeping is not noticing or reporting problems?? I reported the problems in my room and they seemed to appreciate it----. Another review mentioned bed bugs. No evidence here. I asked management about it and they said that was a long time ago and they are especially vigilant to keep them out. Forgive and forget, as they say. If you like Mexican food, the Plaza Bonita next door is good. If the little things don't bother you, this hotel is a good value.

Room Tip: The rooms in the east building, away from the street seem to be quieter. Mine was adjacent to the po...

Cottonwood is fairly close to Sedona and a far less cost than Sedona..this inn was under a hundred dollars..plus it includes a full breakfast. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable. The rooms are very basic, but if you are there just to sleep...it is great. The pool is out side and not useable in winter months. There is no exercise equipment, but if you are on the second floor you can get your exercise walking up and down the stairs...all rooms are accessed from the outside. There is plenty of parking and a nice Mexican restaurant right next door that offers a 10% discount if you stay at the hotel. Heating and air conditioner work efficiently.

Room Tip: Back of inn is further from street...less noisy. If you have trouble walking or carrying luggage up...

We purchased a package deal which included the hotel, Verde Canyon Railway and the Blazing M ranch. Our reservation was ready when we arrived and check-in was quick. The room contained two queen size beds and was clean. The rooms had the appearance of a renovation sometime in the last 5 years. The beds were comfortable. The hotel was full but the noise level was low. Each room has a small fridge and a coffee maker. Our towels were not replaced the second day nor was the coffee pot emptied and new coffee supplied. Overall a pleasant experience and we would have no problem recommending this hotel. A complimentary hot breakfast is included and was very good.

very nice stay, great travel location, probably the best available in
this small town
I was really surprised at how great the free hot breakfast was and the coffee was good too, plus coffee makers in the room
pillows were different but comfy, if you like big ones
bring your own pillows!

I come to this town on business often, and unless you want to stay in Sedona (not all that far) your choices are limited. This is one of our best bets. It is clean, the bed is decent, the towels are plenty big, and the heat and AC works well. Bonus: right in the parking lot is a pretty good Mexican restaurant. My only real gripe...worst pillows I think I've ever encountered, and I travel A LOT. They are rock hard squares. It would be nice if they had at least one treadmill or something, but they do throw in breakfast.

Room Tip: No elevator, so if you have a ton of bags or a bum knee, ask for a first floor room.
