“Nice Hotel but Needs a Makeover”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

We recently stayed 5 nights at the Crowne Plaza San Marcos. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. This hotel is 100 years old and a landmark in the area. The lobby, grounds, and pool are all very nice. The hotel and bar area are in need of upgrading.
The rooms were a bit disappointing. The room had a very loud heater/air conditioner that kept us up a night. The sheets were stained and well worn. While the room was clean it was in desperate need of an upgrade. The ceiling had "popcorn". The tv was old and didn't work well. And, for the rate that these rooms go for, a mini fridge and microwave would have been nice.
The staff was nice and friendly. There were times that they seemed overwhelmed and stressed out. Especially in the restaurant.
This hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to some great restaurants and shops.
If I'm ever in Chandler I would stay here again. This time I'll know what to expect.

“Not Bad for Chandler, AZ area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Our stay at the Crown Plaza San Marco was for family reasons. We made a last minute, late night reservation and the front desk was very accommodating to our request. In fact, they assigned us a first floor room adjacent to a handicap spot which came in very handy when we told them we had Grandma with us. The room was clean and spacious although the toilet was plugged when we arrived. It was repaired early the next morning. One of the reasons we picked this hotel was because of location and they had two queen beds as an offering since we were a party of 4 adults traveling. So why in a room for 4 do they only give you 3 bath towels? We had to get extra towels every day. The hotel is an older complex of buildings making getting to and from the main lobbies a long walk or a car drive. It’s located in downtown Chandler, easy to find, easy to park and central to all in the East Valley. Good and free Wi-Fi, we didn’t use the hotel restaurant, ice machine was out of order. Everyone we came in contact with was polite and customer service oriented.

Room Tip: Get a room that is close to the parking lot or you'll be walking through the maze of a complex

“Average Hotel (Looks better in pictures)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza San Marcos for one night while passing through Chandler on business. At first, the hotel seemed very well maintained, based on exterior appearance and the lobby. Once given the key to my room, I was disappointed at how far I had to walk to get there. Carrying a purse, backpack and rolling a suitcase, I had to walk quite a distance, outdoors, to get to the East elevator. Once I arrived on the third floor, I had to walk almost the same distance back toward the lobby to get to my room. They could certainly benefit from another elevator, or two! Once in my room, I found it to be clean, but in need of a little maintenance. The curtains seemed dingy, but the private balcony was a nice surprise. The bathroom was dated, and the toilet seat had a large chunk missing on the surface, but seemed clean. I was in a corner room on the third floor, near the pool, and I worried that it might be a bit too noisy at night, but I didn't hear a thing. I honestly don't know if I have ever slept that well in a hotel. The bed and pillows were comfortable. In the morning, I like to listen to the news while getting ready for the day, but this hotel has the bathroom fan connected to the light, so I was unable to hear the television unless I got ready in the mini-bar area. Overall, I would say that this was an average stay, nothing spectacular, but nothing that would prevent me from staying there again in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to an elevator, or you may end up walking quite a distance.

“A Real Bargain on Priceline”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

This is an excellent hotel for a business traveler as it is quiet, off the main freeways and streets, has free WiFi and the service is great. The rooms are very large, and also very quiet too. The walls are thankfully thick so even if your neighbors are having a conversation you can't hear it.

I was attending a conference in Phoenix that was hosted at the Grand Arizona Resort. I felt the $199 a night there and $40 per day resort fees were a rip-off, so I hit Priceline, typed in $85 and was able to save hundreds of dollars staying here. It was a good decision.

The rooms are well-cleaned every night, and while I was there Phoenix was having a cold spell. The central heating in the building I was in was perfect.

All in all, this is a great value for the money. I was shocked to get a room for under $100 a night in the busy tourist season in Phoenix. This hotel is a bargain for the business traveler.

“Classic hotel in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013 via mobile

Not my first time staying here. This hotel is located right on a golf course and next to a bunch of great restuarants. The hotel is condo style with a 70's look on the outside. The rooms are average, but are comfortable. The hotel is in bankruptcy but operations wouldn't indicate that as things seem normal there.
