We stayed here July 30 to August 1, 2004. The hotel is physically attractive with nice desert landscaping. The lobby area is quite nice also, but a little noisey.
The front staff are friendly and efficient. We only ate breakfast on site and ordered the buffet. Everything was good...not the greatest meal ever, but far from the worst.
We were a little disappointed by the pool. We felt that, for such a large resort, the pools was rather tiny. But while we were there, a ton of military people were there as well, so it was a little crowded.
The draw back to this location is just that....location. It is about a 20-30 minute drive back into central Phoenix or Scottsdale. And about a 5 mile drive to the nearest services (gas, restaurants, etc.)
But, we got a $59 government rate, so we can't complain. In fact, as long as they offer this rate, we would probably return.
Last year, we stayed at the Westin Kierland in Scottsdale. If you have the option of choosing between the two, it's a no-brainer...go with the Kierland. But this is not a bad hotel either. We just wish it was closer to Phoenix.
