“Fun for kids”

Rawhide is a lot of fun with kids. Our 11 year old son had a great time, especially on the rock climbing wall

“A taste of the wild west”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

I wanted to bring our kids somewhere to get a taste of Arizona history. Rawhide was an easy trip down the highway from our hotel. The first night we went we found out they were closed. I forgot their hours as in off peak seasons they vary.

The park itself is free which was the major attraction. We paid about $32 to watch the show at the Six Gun Theater & have the kids gold pan.

The show was fun and the kids really enjoyed it. It was fun for them to see the actors shoot it out during their story playing. Some of the stunts are really great. Wish the show was longer however.

Gold panning - totally not worth the price. I was looking forward to the kids gold-panning like I remember as a child. This is nothing more than digging through sand in a gold pan for painted gold rocks. Not worth the money we spent on purchasing single tickets.

There are some interesting things to look at in the park but the sun was setting and we did a quick walk through the town. It's not a large place but just big enough to give you an impression of the old west.

Stopped into the toy shop which was fun. They have a large selection of metal cap guns. Very cool but in Canada we'd never play with such a thing. Wish I would have bought one however.

The candy store was another stop and we picked up a few candy sticks and candied pecans.

We witnessed a guest being arrested. She was a great sport about it. There is something to keep in mind if you'd like to surprise someone.

This was a nice little outing to give the kids a taste of the old West. That is what I intended to do and I'm happy we went.

On a side note, they have the cannon which was used in the film Wild Wild West with Will Smith. Interesting to see if you liked the movie.

We went to this attraction during Spring Break, as a friend of ours had gone, and said that their kids really enjoyed it, while the Dad thought it was cheesy. I was a little disappointed.

It was later in the day, and there weren't too many people there. Mechanical bull was not working, and the Stagecoach ride was a haywagon ride, and the driver had absolutely nothing to say.
They have mule rides which my son enjoyed. Gunfight show was entertaining.

Was very disappointed in the "gold panning"....first of all, there was only ONE person looking after this AND the rock climbing wall, so we waited a LONG time as he went back and forth. Not his fault, but they really should ensure there is enough staff to run activities. Later on, another person did come and help with the activity, and we appreciated that he was "in character" which made the experience a little better. Also of note, this isn't really gold panning. The gold coloured pebbles are placed in the pan filled with sand and you swirl it around, and pick them out. It is ok , but if you really want to experience gold panning, you should go to Barkerville or Fort Steele in Canada.

Glad that it was 2 for 1 when we went as well, because it definitely would not have been worth the regular admission.

“Fun Time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Our three kids loved this place! It was so much fun! The shows are very entertaining, as well as the cowboys and townspeople walking around. My kids and I got "arrested" by the sheriff of Rawhide and were put in jail! That was hilarious! You or your kids will not be disappointed here! Very fun for the whole family!

I was really looking forward to going to Rawhide for my kids (8 and 10) because the majority of our vacation was adult oriented. When we arrived we were told the mechanical bull was broken. That was one thing we really wanted to do. I got the feeling once I was there it was going to be lame. I didn't really want to go, but I had just driven 30 minutes to get there. I went to the General Store and heard that it was a 2 for 1 day. I decided we could have $30 of fun, but I would have been very unhappy if we had paid $60, plus another $30 for my in-laws. We did two gun shows and we really enjoyed it. We walked down to pan gold and there was no one there. We went to the stagecoach ride, but they had a hayride instead because the owners thought it would be busy for spring break (it wasn't) and the stagecoach only held 6 people at a time. The kids rode the mules and that was all. I enjoyed getting my picture taken with some of the stunt show characters and in the jail area. The stunt show area seating is bleachers. There is no cover. Seems like it would be inexpensive enough to get a tarp of some sort to help with the Phoenix sun.
