I golfed Rancho two days ago and I had a wonderful experience. The group I was with needed to rent clubs and the help got them hooked up with no problems and no fuss. The starter was not at the 1st tee so we started ourselves. We got through 18 in 3 and a half hours. The scenery on the course is breathtaking. The front 9 especally. There are several holes where you have major elevation changes which makes for some awesome shots. The course was in excellent condition. The greens were a bit hard but average speed. If you like to play it cheap (I always look for cheaper rates) I would play the twilight rate of $45. We still had plenty of light to finish and we started at 3PM. When making the tee time call ahead and ask for a twilight rate because they do not have them on the discount golf sites/ agencys. I wouldn't try to book through their website either because they wont give you that rate either. Call and ask for it. Beautiful course, not super tough but it will make you think. I would play this course again (with a twilight rate ;).

“$129 doesn't come with range balls or good service?”

Since we heard how nice it was, we changed our tee times to go there instead. No doubt about... the course looks nice. Unfortunately, the service made it an ugly experience. After waiting on every hole, we tried to help out by allowing a group to play with us on a par 3. When this created space, we were told to speed up. When we did that, we were yelled by the ranger in front of the clubhouse and told to skip a hole.
After talking him into playing the next hole, we immediately caught the next group again on the very next hole. If we had actually skipped the hole as instructed, we would hvae cought them even earlier. When we spoke to the ranger, he was neither apologetic nor emphathetic toward our situation. When I asked to speak to someone about it, I was told it was not their problem. When I expressed my concern about the treatment by the ranger, I was told I shouldn't complain because I was paying a discount rate ($129). When I asked about contacting the management company, I was told that there was not one and that they could do what they wanted. When I told them I did not think I would be able to recommend the course, I was told, "Who cares if you don't recommend the course!" Now, I am not telling anyone it is in poor shape physically, but why would you put up with such poor service when there are so many quality courses out there.

I played in November 2003 and found this to be top notch golf course with great scenery. Best part was the low greens fee in comparison to other courses in the area. I am not one to fret over the length of a golf course so the shortness didn't bother me at all. Make sure you stop at the Tonto Bar and grill overlooking the course. Great food and atmosphere.

I would not recommend this course to anyone. The staff is terrible.
Green Fees are way over priced. $135.00 and you don't even get free range balls. There are many other courses in the area. Don't waste your money on this one.

Rancho Manana Golf Club, is a great golf course. With most of the golf courses in area at over $100 per round, you can't beat the prices at Rancho Manana. Before 12pm, the rates were $79 and after 1pm, they are only $59, and they even had a twilight rate of $39 after 3pm. Beautiful course, very scenic, not very long, but layed out very well, you need to keep it straight or you will be in trouble. We stayed at the Boulders, which I thougt was overpriced. We did not play golf there, the rounds are $210 and they have no twilight rates.
