Casitas At Rancho Manana

Apr 30, 2008

We stayed at the Casitas at Rancho Manana in April on a timeshare exchange. We were with our three children, ages 17, 14, and 11. This is our first exchange, so we don't have a lot to compare it to, but it was just beautiful. The kitchen is top of the line with everything you could need. We had dinner in the casita three nights. One night we barbecued outside. There are two gas grills in the center courtyard for people to use. There is also a gaslit firepit there where you can sit and relax. There is a private patio outside each casita where you can also sit and eat. There were two bedrooms, each with king sized beds and their own large bathrooms. There is also an alcove between the two bedrooms with a queen sized murphy bed which came out of the wall. The beds were extremely comfortable. Since it is a timeshare exchange, there is no daily maid service, but they do come midweek to clean. There is a small washer and dryer as well. The pool was very nice with plenty of seating and umbrellas, as well as two hot tubs. The people who work at the pool are very friendly and helpful. There are lots of pool toys that they bring out for the kids to use as well. There were quite a few families there, staying with parents or grandparents, but the pool was never crowded. We also used the fitness center a few times and it is very state-of-the-art and they even provide headphones for the tv's if you don't have them. There are also fitness classes you can take. The locker room downstairs is a must-see! It's gorgeous! We did not use any of the spa services other than the fitness center.
The town of Cave Creek is pretty small and not much to it. We did go out to dinner at the Mexican Restaurant in town, El Encanto. I highly recommend it. Overall, it was a very nice stay, if you are looking for something outside Phoenix. We drove into Phoenix two days, and it was about a half hour drive, and pretty direct.

Stayed here for a week in January of 2008. There are many good things about this resort:

1. Great restaurant on site. Excellent food and service at Tonto Bar and Grill.
2. Quiet location in an area with lots of great restaurants. Off the beaten path.
3. Roomy casitas. Two bedrooms with two nice bathrooms. Rooms can be configured as two single beds or a double bed.
4. Great workout room Good equipment and spacious.

Here are some bad things:

1. Really quiet and dark. Feels a bit like a project that did not quite succeed.
2. Beds in our room was very uncomfortable. Two single beds pushed together where not level with each other.
3. Pretty far away from bars and restaurants of Scottsdale.
4. Seemed like there were some maintenance issues that were not being addressed.
5. Front desk personnel were not particularly helpful.

Overall -- great place to be away from everything. Pretty setting with a great restaurant.

The Spa services at Rancho Manana were such a treat. Not a heavy traffic spa...which is just perfect. From the friendly staff, calming meditation room to the wonderful massages and wraps. The prices are very reasonable and the the facilities were very clean. Can't wait to visit again!! Enjoy!

“Beautiful spot - Quiet, clean and relaxing”

Casitas At Rancho Manana

Jan 22, 2008

My sister swapped a time share week to come to this property. This was the 3rd year of an Arizona trip for my sisters, my mom and me. At first I though it looked off the beaten path, but when I arrived and saw the mountains, the saguaro, and the clean air, I was SO happy that we were not in downtown Scottsdale. There were plenty of great restaurants and shops around, and I truly loved staying around Rancho Manana. The spa was lovely, and very welcoming to Casitas guests, even if you are not getting an expensive treatment. I used the hot tub and steam and felt welcome each day. The food at Tonto's bar and grill is very good too. The 2-bedroom casistas were roomy, had very good light, and gave a feel of being in the South west. Only oddity was the concierge who couldn't really recommend any restaurants (the person there said she lived far away and didn't know the area). Also, my mom, thought the sidewalks were a bit dark at night and things were too quiet!

I would definitely return and stay here again.

After driving 6 hours in the heat through the desert we ended up in Cave Creek, AZ at Rancho Manana. Cute town and even cuter property. Checked in easily and were given our casita - 2 bedroom, 2 bath. We also had help with our luggage - everyone was very accommodating! The casita is amazing - beautiful - just what you would like your vacation home to be. Awesome kitchen, 2 master suites across the hall from each other for privacy, great view. Deck with table off of the living area near the kitchen, big tub in the master suite. Extremely spacious bathrooms. We are very picky people and this place met all of our needs. The Tonto Grill was delicious, great wine choices and excellent martinis, and the food was made exactly as we requested. The pool was just right after 115 degree day and though we did not play golf, the course was set in a beautiful environment. If you get anywhere near Phoenix, you must eat at the Barrio Cafe - nouvelle SW cuisine, casual, great service, AWESOME food, reasonable prices.
