“Typical Best Western”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2008

Standard 2 queen bedroom, small bath/toilet combo, outside sink and window A/C. Nice touch was an in-room safe with a single key. Room came with small fridge, small coffeemaker but no microwave.

TV volume was set WAY TOO high, no matter how much I tried to lower the volume with either the remote or with the TV set directly. TV only got about 6 clear channels, the rest were really fuzzy.

Beds were somewhat lower than I am used to, softer as well.

Pool area was small but very nice, not too much chlorine in the water. Spa was clean and nicely warm.

"Breakfast" was hard boiled eggs, make it yourself waffles, 3 dry cerals with milk (no soymilk or low-fat milk), white and darker white (cheap excuse for wheat) bread for toasting, coffee and apple/orange juice. About 5 tables nearby to eat at.

Check-in was fast and efficient. No one was around when I tried to check out very early the next day. I left after waiting for about 20 minutes.

NEVER able to pick up free wireless internet. Supposidly there were 2 networks available. The one for the hotel lobby "should" have been picked up, but I was NEVER able to connect. The other one had a very low signal even though I was told by the desk clerk that the router was only 2 rooms away from mine. I was able to connect but only for about 5 minutes at a time as I kept getting disconnected. I got better reception from the nearby school district's wifi, but that kept dropping me after 10 minutes.

All in all a pleasant Best Western with none of the usual "Best Western" smells I have come to associate with Best Westerns elsewhere. I paid $85 with tax for the room.

  • Liked — Pool with not a lot of chlorine
  • Disliked — No wi-fi or microwave

We stayed at Best Western because Harrah's cancellation policy required 72 hours notice, while this hotel allowed for a same day cancellation if needed. We have 2 children including a 6 year old, and we did not want to be stuck with a one night room penalty in case our kids became sick. We stayed two nights. The room was nice, the beds were comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. Also, the bathroom was a decent size which included a normal size tub and shower. However, there was never more than one person working the desk, so we had to wait almost every time we needed assistance. If we called from the room, sometimes the phone would ring with no answer at the desk. So why did we require so much assistance? The hotel promised wireless internet in the rooms. We did not pick up a signal, and hence the repeated calls to the desk. The problem was cleared 24 hours later after they finally reset all the routers in the hotel. The continental breakfast was at best average. The orange juice was Sunny D (or something similar.) Also, there were issues with seating since the breakfast was served in the lobby where only 4 tables were set up. All in all, the accommodations were comfortable, but I would not rely on quick service or the wireless internet. Yet the employees were friendly and knowledgeable of nearby attractions.

  • Liked — Clean comfortable rooms
  • Disliked — It took to long to clear the internet problem; desk should have compensated us on the room rate.

We stayed at the Best Western two nights before moving over to Harrah's at Laughlin. The rooms were clean and comfortable(we had two rooms -----one for my 84 yr old mother and one for me and my husband). My mother actually liked the Best Western better than Harrah's! The shower has a grab bar and the bed was lower and easier for her to get in and out of. And the bathroom amenities included a shower cap which made her day! There was breakfast in the lobby that was adequate but the attraction was talking to all the snowbirds (we live in Michigan and my mother lives in Minnesota). We found people who know people we know in Minnesota. Friends who live in Bullhead City were concerned that we stayed in "that neighborhood" (where the Best Western is located) but we didn't have any problems and felt safe. We would definitely go back.

  • Liked — clean, friendly people
  • Disliked — elevator to second floor room would have been nice

Located right on the corner, the hotel was easy to find. We arrived a few hours before check-in but our room had already been cleaned so we were able to get our room. The man at the front desk was nice but didn't seem very talkative. After getting in our car and driving to the room, we were happy to see a lot of parking spots. When we first walked into the room, it did smell a little like smoke but after a minute you couldn't smell it any more. It was probably a smoking room a few years ago. The next thing we did was turn on the AC. We only had it on low and it chilled the room quickly. The room was large so we never got in each others way. The bathroom area had recently been remodeled. The floor had a nice tile job done and there was plenty of counter space with a power outlet. The showers was normal size and did have areas to hold shampoo and soap. A group of teens next door had a party one night but after 1 phone call, the party quickly disbanded. This is defiantly a hotel we will stay at again when we need to visit the river.
