“Histrical, modern and pleasing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

We had "Raven's Rest" top floor suite. Could have slept 5 easily. Beautiful restored old YMCA building. Not for those with bad knees or hips. Steps to entrance, elevator to third. narrow stairway to fourth. Beautiful eurotech room with large comfy bed and gorgeous loft with balcony and aerial view of historic Bisbee. Full kitchen, coffee and extra pillows. Really nice skylights and very clean. Was reasonable with Groupon and second night was $95. A nice experience.

Room Tip: Choose lower floors if elderly.

The building is a beautiful remnant of the old days when Bisbee was a company town, providing a gymnasium for employees. A preservationist architect converted it to a warren of suites, several of them having decks looking out over old-town Bisbee. The ones we saw are more like apartments than the usual hotel "suite": they have separate living, dining, kitchen, and bedroom areas. And the layout is maze-like (for example, 105 and 106 are physically adjacent, but you reach them by quite separate paths) which adds to the fun and makes each one seem more private than if this were a hotel with cookie-cutter rooms laid out side by side. Both 105 and 106 had real kitchens, with full-sized fridge, stove, and dishwasher. The cabinets are, as in most suite hotels, hit or miss: we had six dinner plates but only one coffee mug. And the mattress in 106 still sags, as an earlier reviewer noted. Wi-fi was reliable and quick. The appliances are oldish but everything worked fine. Our rooms were clean. Heat comes from electric baseboard units, which in our one-story suites proved ample on a night when Bisbee dropped below freezing.

Wonderful thing is that all the suites have kitchens, bad thing is all food smells from whoever cooked last still lingers. 401 smells of mildew all the time, so bring your own air freshener to enjoy the room better. Great skylight deck for star gazing or looking over the city. Groupon was worth it but typical price was not worth it. Trash in hallways, elevator that would not work all the time. 4 flights of stairs was a good work out though.

Room Tip: 401 and 402 have decks, 401 is large, 402 is very small but great for a telescope and star gazing

Good location. This building was a former YMCA that was converted into apartments in the 80s. We had rm 402 which was a 2 bedroom loft plus private balcony and great view. Furnishing were dated and beds mediocre (hard) but the full kitchen is nice and the balcony is neat. We bought wine and cheese and sat outside one evening. There is no Marriott in town and being right on the strip of shops and restaraunt is important to us. We paid $115 per night for a Thursday/Friday. Clean but dated. Reminds me of a college apartment in the 80s.

My wife and I stayed here over a weekend, which was our first visit to Bisbee. Loved Bisbee, not the Gym Club Suites! The room had an oder that hit you as soon as we walked in. The floor looked liked it hadn't been vacuumed since it became a hotel, and had dog pee stains in a corner of the bedroom. The towels in the bathroom felt like sandpaper. And worst if all, bed felt like we were sleeping on bricks. After enjoying the town of Bisbee, we hated coming back to the hotel each night. Will NOT stay here again.

The property must be converted apartments. Our room had two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and shared bath. There were two doors to access the bath so that helped with privacy - we were there with another couple but we each had our own door to access the bathroom so there was no issue with running into each other at night in the hallway. Our bed slept wonderfully and it was a nice size in a huge old brass frame. The room had a sofa in it and it was at least 15 feet long. The kitchen was fully stocked and the living room had two sofas for general lounging. We had a balcony that with a table and chairs that we used while enjoying breakfast. Splitting the cost between two couples made for a very economical stay in a cozy, historic property. As the title of my review says, the facility is older and in need of refurbishment here and there but that adds to the charm. Well recommended.

There is really no need to stay in the more expensive hotels in Bisbee unless you need to brag. This little inn has huge comfortable rooms at a more than affordable price. It felt as though we had our own apartment right in the middle of town. The lady who works at the desk was very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Go online and look at the photos and read the descriptions.
