Really a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant is intimate without being loud. You can hear the other diners but not every word of their conversation. (a few restaurants in Philly could take a note!)
The meal was delicious. I had the fish special, delicate sea bass with just the perfect blend of veggies and light sauce, fabulous. My husband opted for the spicy penne, he loved it as it was flavorful but not overly garlic. Both dishes were spot on for freshness, flavor and value.
Our waiter was Daryl. Certainly a Bisbee ambassador. He was interesting and efficient, getting our dishes to us while the food was still hot and offering, when asked, comments about the town, beer and wine. We appreciated his humor.
In addition, the owner helped us out. Earlier in the day as we attempted to check into our hotel we were locked out. One of the shopkeepers told us the Inn owner worked at Cafe Roka, we went down and the owner was contacted by the chef owner of Cafe Roka. Very helpful and appreciated.
So, all these rave reviews, why only 4 stars? The bread is subpar, white rolls that were cold and not the right kind of chewy. The reservation system is a pain, you leave a message and they call you back. When I call on a Monday for reservations on Thursday, no one calls back because they are only opened Thursday-Sun. Even if you not open check the messages and let people know if they have a reservation. We are tourists, I like to make plans.
Otherwise, this restaurant is not to be missed in the delightful town of Bisbee
