This hotel is not clean, has wires running all over the place & I expect would not pass a health or safety inspection. The rooms are tiny without amenities. Whole hotel smells from the owner's dogs that have free access. It is nice for pet owners that they can have their pets here, BUT for others, the smell & dander persist. The back garden is treacherous & certainly was not very pretty at the end of March. Basically, one type of ground cover. Only things good about hotel are location & breakfast. Do away with themed rooms that look ridiculous & just modernize the facility to make them acceptable to guests.

“Agree with negative reviews”

Unfortunately, I agree with the negative reviews. Our room smelled of urine. The positives are that the free breakfsat was awesome, and the building (outside) with the little trail up the mountain in the back are very picturesque. Replace the odorous carpets and get rid of the themed rooms...just make them palatable to the eye and comfortably furnished... and you'll have a great thing going! I posted pictures of the inn and our room at this site.

“The Castle! Oh yes POLTERguest at the Tazmanian room!”

Wanna be a Polterguest?
If you like poltergeists this place is great!.. My room was clean and bed was OK.No TV.
I felt I was being watched the moment I entered the room. The wall made scratching sounds and lights flickered thw whole time. I thought it was all in my mind. I was showering and the shower curtain wrapped all around me! Yes, strange. Later talked to the cook and he said that room? What happened? I told him and he said they are playful harmless poltergeists and not mean. They play with his pots and pans when he comes in to cook each morning. The Tasmanian room has the most poltergeist activity. Believe it or not? that was my experience ************Good luck!

“Forget the Inn at Castle Rock”

The Inn at Castle Rock

I booked a room for my son and daughter-in-law for 4th of July weekend, 2004; it was a very warm weekend, but no air conditioning (the clerk said "it will be cool because we're up against the hill and the window is shaded." Oh, sure.....it was the King room, it was dirty, no t.v., the fan barely worked. I live in Bisbee and would NEVER book a room there again; for $50, go up the street to the Jonquil motel. It's clean, it's plain, but at least there is air conditioning and t.v. in the room.

“Would NOT recommend”

The Inn at Castle Rock

We stayed 2 nights at the Inn at Castle Rock over Thanksgiving weekend 2004. We stayed in the King Richard room. The room itself had plenty of room with NO amenities. The room was filled with extremely outdated, non-matching furniture with about 10 coats of paint on everything. The "additional" room was up against the mountain with a tin roof and a wall made of the mountain itself. The beds were horribly uncomfortable and a "king" pillow was 2 pillows stuffed in one pillowcase. The room was filthy and I even questioned the cleanliness of the sheets. You could tell it was poorly run with no cleaning staff that I could see. The room had no phone or TV which we knew, but never stayed at a place before without either. The bathroom only provided soap that smelled funny and small unmatching towels. The entire place was creaky with uneven floors. I got the impression the place has had many additions that were poorly built. Overall impression of the place was dirty and poorly run. The breakfast was OK and the price was good, but I would never stay there again. If you are looking for a NICE place to stay, try the Copper Queen which looked very nice. Not this place, especially for a romantic weekend.
