We had booked an astronomy session as part of our stay and were looking forward to that. We didn't realise that everything else would be just as good. From our arrival everything was no trouble, Kathleen showed us around the whole place. We saw the very interesting Learning Room (good place for adults and children), the 2 different Astronomy rooms, the ornate formal lounge and dining, the very comfortable AV Room, and well appointed kitchen and light and airy breakfast area. The rooms are all different, and we enjoyed our stay in the Galaxy Room, the dome was particulary interesting to the children. Outside we saw all the interesting nooks and crannies, and down the bottom of the hill we experienced boating on the Pond.
Cookies and Lemonade were made available after our arrival, and plenty of advice on places to eat. The next night we used the kitchen and this was convenient as we had a 7pm Astronomy session. Gil was our guide to the Northern skies, and all enjoyed his extensive knowledge.
We believe that the place was changing owners just after our stay (October 2005), so hopefully they won't change all the the good things we enjoyed, so others can have a great experience too.

“Most amazing B & B”

We took our daughter for an "astronomy" weekend over the July 4th weekend to an out-of-the-way, wonderful, unusual b&b/ private observatory. Despite cloudy conditions which prevented the astronomer from showing us the stars, we had a fantastic time at this scientific wonderland filled with fossils and musuem quality objects. Situated on top of a small hill, we were able to watch fireworks all around us from the various towns of Tombstone, Benson, Sierra Vista, and some other towns nearby. While outside on the viewing patio, we were even visited by a small tarantula, which kept its distance from us. Our spacious room was actually a small, domed observatory, complete with Star Wars and Star Trek memorabilia throughout. This is the most unique b&b we have ever spent time in! We watched a video in the evening on the domed ceiling in our observatory bedroom! The room and bathroom were immaculate, with the bathroom being the nicest, most well-appointed we have ever seen in a b&b. Our hosts were very friendly and the delicious breakfast was served in a beautiful dining room with large picture window, showing off the surrounding desert environment. . This is a great location from which to visit Bisbee, Tombstone, Karchner Caverns, Sierra Vista, Desert Museum in Tucson, etc. during the day. If you have kids, don't forget to ask for the observatory room and reserve time for a "lesson" with the astronomer. August may not be a good choice for a visit due to monsoon clouds which may prevent viewing by telescopes. Please note: the pictures on the web site don't do this place justice. If your kids are at all interested in science, this is the destination for a great family weekend!

“My family didn't want to leave!”

My family loved our stay at the Skywatchers B&B. It was our first experience at a bed and breakfast and if we could find others like it, we would never stay at another hotel again. We were greeted like family right from the beginning and hated to leave. When you are traveling, little things mean a lot, like the homemade cookies and lemonade we were served after getting a tour of the place. It felt like our home, only better. The space education room was great fun for our kids ages 11 and 8. Our Galaxy bedroom was spacious even with the murphy bed down and very comfortable. All the Star Wars toys and other fun items around made us feel at home. The astronomer we booked for the night sky show was wonderful and went out of her way to show us many wonders. It was amazing! Even with a full moon, we could see many incredible sights. It is too bad that we live so far away, we would love to visit again and again. Thank you Skywatchers Inn for an experience that we will not forget.

Can't wait to return. Our first visit was beyond any expectations. I had never been particularly interested in astronomy, but what we saw was spectacular. The rings of Saturn were as clear as the rings on my finger! The astronomers were most helpful to novices. Loved it!

Incredible stay for our whole family. If you enjoy geology, Egyptology, dinosaurs, science, or astronomy, you will find this place fascinating. Even my 9 year old enjoyed it. Interesting theme rooms with extreme attention to detail. Hands on viewing of the universe thru large telescopes with your own personal astronomer. NOT just a place to stay. When we return, we will make it a destination.
