“Ladies Church Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

We were looking for a place to host our first ever ladies retreat from our church. Since this was the first time we had a retreat, we were a bit nervous looking for a place to stay. When we stumbled upon the Alaskan Host B and B, we knew we had a winner! The living room was large, yet cozy and comfortable. The bedrooms were spacious and decorated with Alaskan flair. Our hunting husbands would be jealous with all the animal mounts around the house : ) Kathy and Jim were good cooks (we even had moose sausage!) and Jim has a never-endling list of jokes! The location is great (30 minutes from Wasilla) so it makes an ideal place for those visiting our great state, and an easy commute for local folks

I can't begin to stay how much we enjoyed our stay here. I loved how your decorated the rooms! The setting is amazing and the breakfast was the best ever! We were excited to sample moose sausage and it was delicious! Kathy and Jim could not have been more helpful to us. We were made to feel right at home from the start. We hated to leave but Denali was calling our name! We'll be back!

This was the perfect ending that we could not have asked for. The best B&B with the 2 most gracious hosts - jim & Kathy !!!! We would totally recommend that you drive from Anchorage (90 mins?) just to stay here. It's worth it.

Alaskan Host B & B is a wonderful place to stay in the Willow area! Kathy and Jim were amazing hosts, and their home is beautiful. They are located on a quiet lake on their homestead property away from the highway. I enjoyed a great evening hike on the trail that Jim pointed out, and watched the grebes and geese on the lake in the low evening light. Google Maps doesn't understand the address, so be sure to read the great directions Kathy has on the Contact page of their website. I tried to help them fix the Google Maps business listing while I was there, but you should follow old school Alaskan directions rather than trusting your GPS or smart phone map. You'll be well rewarded if you find this gem!

The b&b was wonderful. We only had difficulty trying to find the place when we used the "get directions" icon on one of the Alaskan H
ost b&b sites which navigated us about 5 miles from where we needed to go. Other than that, our stay was very peaceful and relaxing. Kathy and Jim were very accommodating, even gave us directions to a great place to eat called Eagle Quest.

We could not have found a better location for our Alaska wedding. My daughter lives in Anchorage so we took my husband's boys on vacation with us. The last 2 nights were in Jim and Kathy's BnB - perfect setting for a weekend wedding. The wedding was on Hatcher's Pass at Summitt Lake. Kathy and Jim were the perfect host for Tommy and I with all the kids (my daughter, son-n-law, grandson (9), granddaughter (4 months) and Tommy's boys (17 and 14). We all had a wonderful time with so much to do at the BnB. Very entertaining! And the breakfasts were Yummy! In addition, Willow was a very sweet town and we thoroughly enjoyed attending Williow United Methodist Church on Sunday following the wedding (Georga Stark the visiting minister and his wife Debbie married us on Hatcher's Pass). Again - thanks for everything! It was all Perfect.

I had the pleasure of spending a some time with Jim and Kathy at the Alaskan Host this summer and it was a blast. The scenery around the B&B is gorgeous, the food was fantastic, and the hospitality never stopped. Jim will wow you with stories and jokes and Kathy is a master of culinary delights - a must stay if you are in the area.
