The Best Western Lake Lucille was great! Although the hotel lobby is a bit dated, the rooms are nicely appointed. Mini-fridge, updated furniture, and great view. The rooms on the lake side have a wonderful view of the lake and mountains. The pics included are taken from the hotel deck in the morning. I did not take pictures of the hotel itself as the ones included are representative.

The parking lot side has a view of the parking lot (hence the name). The continental breakfast was adequate, although the coffee could have been better.

One minor complaint was that the tv remote did not work exceptionally well, but it was useable none the less. Beings that I travel a lot for work, this hotel was par for other Best Western hotels.

The following night I stayed in Anchorage at the Quality Inn and paid $60 more for the night. The Best Western made the Quality Inn look like a dump. For the money and the view, the Best Western is a GREAT value.

The hotel recently went through a remodel and everything was very nice. The rooms were nicely decorated with balconys and comfortable beds. The continental breakfast was included. We missed the hotel/bar that used to operate in the hotel and now that area is vacant. I would recommend anyone stay at the Lake Lucille Lodge.

We had a very comfortable room overlooking the lake. Spotlessly clean and well decorated.

The restaurant looked closed - though they said it was being renovated, but a very good breakfast was produced. Very quiet.

View was breath taking.

A great position overlooking a lake with the hotel grounds running down to the water. The rooms on the lake side have balconies. There are suites which are very spacious with two balconies. The restaurant was closed for renovation as were some of the rooms.

If visiting the Anchorage area this is a peaceful place to stay and a forty minute drive into Anchorage.
All normal facilities were available, and will be a good place to stop for a few days once the alterations are complete!

  • Liked — Spacious rooms, balconies, lake/mountain views
  • Disliked — renovations in progress

We booked a jacuzzi suite w/ a view of the lake. The room was supposed to have a microwave and mini fridge but to our surprise ours did not have the microwave. The jacuzzi was dreadful. It may very well have been the first jacuzzi tub ever made. It was missing buttons and was very dirty. Even the caulking around it was cracked and showing signs of black mold. After calling the front desk to complain, I was told, "sorry there are no other rooms available.” Funny thing, there were only 4 cars including ours in the entire lot.

I ended up wiping the tub down the best I could and filling it up with water (took about 45 mins), I turned the jets on and noticed a bunch of brown scummy chunks floating in the water. I emptied the tub, rinsed everything down again and refilled. Unbelievably, there was PLENTY of hot water to do this 3 times. Unfortunately, the more I ran the jets, the more brown hunks, of whatever it was, were floating in the water. Needless to say, there was no way I was getting in it.

One other interesting thing, when I originally called this hotel to make a reservation I asked for the government rate and was immediately told, "We never discount our rooms and certainly not our suites!" I found that a bit odd since I have never run into that before, so I went directly to Best Western's website to check the rates there. I did get a government rate through the site, no problem.

I was not impressed with anything other than the fact they had an endless supply of hot water. I will NEVER again stay at this hotel! I will travel to Anchorage and stay at the Sheraton instead. At least that way I am guaranteed a great hotel, fabulous food, impeccable service, as well as clean and comfortable -- and it will cost less than this place.
