Delicious breakfast, wonderful company, cozy and complete furnishings. Just like being at home! I am still looking for a recipe for the delicious ham and pineapple breakfast...

  • Disliked — I generally don't like B & B's
  • Tips/Secrets — Rose is a unique, but very friendly lady. She reminds me of my mom

“A wonderful B&B, only wish we could have enjoyed it loger.”

The best of our 2 week tour of Alaska. Rose handled the Alaska ferry company canceling our afternoon ferry with grace. We and another couple needed to leave very early, and Rose made us a wonderful breakfast eariler than usual, and smiled through it all. The room was wonderful, and comfortable, and we wished we could have stayed longer and enjoyed it more. The room decor was very home like and the common areas had great views. It was evident that Rose and her Family put alot of time and thought into the B&B going so far as to create a special scrapbook about the B&B, abd the placement of nut and dried fruit in our room. Valdez was really a very nice stop, and if you have the chance, I'd recommend Wild Rose's By The Sea!

“Wild Roses -- homey and yummy”

We recently returned from Alaska where we enjoyed a very pleasant 4 night stay at Wild Roses by the Sea. The weather was dreary but Rose was always sunny, beginning each morning with an extravagant and delicious breakfast. Our family -- 2 adults and 2 boys, 13 & 17 -- stayed in the downstairs suite, which was spacious and well appointed, with a separate bedroom, kitchen and sofabed in the living room. Rose made us feel so comfortable and welcome, it was a true pleasure staying with her.

  • Liked — Friendliness, delicious breakfast, location/views
  • Disliked — bad weather -- fault of Mother Nature, of course

“Rose Fong is not just any Rose”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2006

A Rose is a Rose is a Rose! Rose Fong runs a wonderful B&B in Valdez, AK, terminal point of the Alaskan oil pipeline. While we had to cut short our visit to this sleepy fishing village, our brief experience staying at WIld Roses By The Sea B&B Retreat earned very high marks. I strongly recommend it over other possible accomodations. The location was, unlike some other B&Bs, quiet and breathtaking with a great overlook of Prince William Sound. Rose Fong had a couch positioned with binoculars to help scan for dolphins and whales as we watched the ships enter the harbor. The ambience was fabulous with an eclectic Asian flavor. The breakfast was the best that we experienced while in Alaska with a wide assortment of food. The home-made quiche-like egg pie should be on the Food Channel. There was also fruit with yogurt, a variety of cereals, anything you wanted as a beverage, delicious breads... the day that we were there the food was REALLY good. Rose had an assortment of articles, local literature and recommendations to help us with our vacation. If you are going to Valdez to experience the town, to do hiking or kayaking, or to fish for halibut, this B&B is an excellent choice.

“Pristine and Breath-taking”

We stayed at the Wild Roses B & B downstairs apt. which has a living room and and bedroom, kitchen, and private bath. It was astounding! Rose is your hostess and she decorates simply yet very peaceful. Nothing can compare with the beauty of Valdez and her place offers such gorgeous views. I would highly recommend staying here. Some people call their breakfast gourmet....Rose truly does make a gourmet breakfast.
