The staff at Landis could not be more helpful for a couple of Kiwis visiting Lotung on business. Our room was of a good standard and the bathroom outstanding. The hotel breakfast was varied and interesting, food for Europeans or locals. There is a beautiful park across from the hotel which is lovely to walk or bike using the hotels bicycles for free. Internet access also free for entire stay. Very good stay.
Having seen the great Landis at Taipei and some other locations, I thought this one would be great too. However this Landis is no comparison to the other ones, it is simply a regular hotel. It is, of course, still a good hotel (since it is a Landis) but it did not reach my Landis expectations. Maybe if you stayed at a better room with a better view everything will be better. There is a view of the Guei-Shan Island (turtle island) off the ocean, but I'm not sure which rooms have that.
The restaurant for breakfast was okay. Nothing huge and big, but just nice and acceptable. OJ, milk, toasters, etc... The service was fine, nothing to compain about. However it will never compare to the Hotel Royal at Chiao Hsi. If you're staying around YiLan area, stay at the Chiao Hsi (I don't know why there isn't a page for that hotel, but it is fabulous).
