“liked the utopia”

Utopia Beach Club Hotel

Jul 18, 2008

we were booked into the Pensee hotel but on arrival we was told that the Pensee was full and given rooms in the Utopia. these two hotels are virtually merged together to form one very big complex. the Utopia has recently undergone a revamp so the rooms we stayed in were lovely very clean and spacious with a huge bed. The pools are beautiful and the grounds kept very clean with lots of winding paths and flowers to make walking round the complex a pleasure. the beach in sand and shingle with excellent coral soon as you step ionto the sea.
Overall the food was of a good standard although we found it to be better at the Utopia, slightly more choice. The beer is served lluke warm and we avided it after the first day and stuck to brandy and coke. the hotel does provide you with plenty of bottled water from the bars.
we went on one trip to Dolphin Island which cost £40 each and was a very enjoyable day and we got to swim with the dolphins which was brilliant, however check your equipment when you get it cos it was not all of a good standard most of the life jackets had broken fastenings havin said that they did provide replacements if you spotted it.
the hotel has a mix of guests from different countries, mainly Germany but also Italy, Britain and France.
Beware of stomach upsets! DO NOT go to see the Hotel doctor as he tried to charge us 400 euros for some tablets which the Rep can get for a couple of pounds. the doctors is a bit of a scam charging inflated prices telling you to claim it all back on your insurance!!!
Overall a fantastic holiday, llittle in the way of entertainment at nights but plenty for children. very relaxing and enjoyable.

“Loved this hotel”

Utopia Beach Club Hotel

Jul 10, 2008

This hotel was wonderful. Lovely and clean, The staff very helpful and friendly but linger for tips (which is expected.) The food was excellent but if you don't like the food in utopia there is also the pensee which you have full use of. The beach and the reef were beautifully kept and we saw lot's of fish. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone.
We always had things to do, excursions etc, so we didn't mind that the rooms were basic. The rooms were spacious and clean with air conditioning and the bed sheets were changed daily.
Towards the start of the week the drink quantities were very smal but as we moved through the week we were getting full glasses.
Definately will go back to utopia.
Quad biking in the desert is amazing and worth doing...

Nice location but not a lot to do. Accomodation is adequate and clean. Take plenty of repelent as there are a lot of mosquitoes and flies. Great reef snorkling. Plenty of fish to see. Food could be better but you are not at home.

“Good value”

We went to this hotel in Jan 08 for 2 weeks.
Good points- The pools were brilliant and a few of them were heated to 30C which was fab as we have 2 kids and in Jan did not expect the pools to be warm enough so it was a nice suprise.
You can use all the facilities and the all inclusive a the newer sister hotel The Pensee.
We had a bungalow on the beach which was brilliant.
The food was O.K.
The beach and the snorkeling were fantastic.
The amimation team are good and friendly.
You don't need to take beach towels as they are provided on the beach and by the pools.

Bad points-
The evening entertainment was very poor.
Nobody gets dressed up at all of an evening, everyone was in jeans and jumpers and we were really sstruggling to dress down,if I'd have known I would have taken jeans etc.
The evenings were very chilly and we had not taken coats, one of the shops sold jackets and nearly everyone in the hotel had one!
The staff were rude sometimes depending on how well you tipped them upfront.
The wine is served it what can only be described as a shot glass.
They ran out of spirits and you were given the smallest measure humanly possible.
The restaurant was not open at lunch time, you had to go to the pool bar where the only choice was burger or hotdog and chips or to the tent on the beach that had a tiny buffet selection.
The lager gave everyone a bad tummy.
The rooms were spacious and clean but run down, the shower was a joke!
We went on a trip to Luxor and we set off at 5.20am and were told we would be back for 9.30pm.We arrived back at 1am having not eaten since lunchtime. We were lied to by the you travel rep as the convoy back from Luxor did not even set off until 7pm and it was a 6 hour trip so there was no way we were ever going to be back for that time.Luxor was amazing but the journey was horrendous, the annoying thing is that Marsa is only 100 miles away but the convoy point is near Hurghada and then we were only going about 30mph through the desert,it was a nightmare.
We did have a lovely holiday and the kids really enjoyed it but this hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere so if you like wandering round shops and the local area then don't bother going.

“great compromise quality/price”

Utopia Beach Club Hotel

Just back from Utopia beach Club, El Quesir (Marsa Alam), booked with Karambola tour operator

[--]
Plus: wonderful beach site, good also for children (very easy access to
the reef). Great chanche to snorkeling also close to the beach.
Bungalows and room directly on the seaside. Wonderful view. Not
luxurious but useful and moderate clean. Quite and relaxing.
Food ok, quality in line with Egyptian standard.

No animation staff at all.

In conclusion, if u don't like touristic place, and u wish
caracteristic location (avoiding deluxe and baroque hotel), go there.
It's a great compromise quality/price.
