We have just come back from a week in Marsa Alam, it was terrific one of the best holidays we have ever had.
The wole holiday experience was briliant & everyone from the guy wo cleaned our room to people who looked after us at Dinner in the evening was wonderful
Flying into Marsa Alam, you do wonder what you are flying into, its just a desert & the sea, there is a tourist town developing at Port Graib, but there is nothing in the immediate area.
Marsa alam airport is a small but efficient airport no waiting about, stright in & straight out through immigration. strigt onto the coach 30 mins or so later, you are at dreams beach & other resorts.
Dreams beach is beautiful, a true oasis, in the middle of the desert, its reeption & main bar is an elegant classy building, all the staff were friendly, & booking in was also not a problem, 15 mins from checking in, were in our room, suitcases had arrived, & we were in the shower.
The rooms are very user friendly, typical double hotel room, all very very clean & immaculately done, the beds all had egpytian cotton sheets, the airconditioning was first class, the television only had a few english language channels, but content was good, fims channels etc
Out in the resort it was lovely, set out like a lagoon, with a large ( & I do mean large) swimming pool at one end, with a bar, there was never a problem getting a sunlounger, no towels on beds at 6am!!!
There was also a water slide- a big one!!!, we are two middle aged women, we had a ball on the water slide, we joined in with the kids who thought we were really funny & applauded us as we hit the water like fat water bombs!
At the weekend, there were more visitors from the resort than in the week, Egyptians from cairo for the weekend, all looking forward to a nice relaxing & fun time, we even had grannies in Jalabiyas going down the water slides - no honestly we did!!!!!
The food was lovely, very cosmopolitan, catering a lot for italians of which there a lot at the resort. food was always well done, fresh pasta, lots of vegetables & lovely salads, no much in the way of chips or chicken nuggets im pleased to say.
There was also an italian resteraunt & a kebab resteraunt both of which were lovely, really nicely done food, not beans & chips, tho pizza was served in the afternoon in the kebab resteruant which also doubled up as a bar during the day.
The abient attidue of the hotel was only interrupted by the italian guests, who were loud & macho, the animation team was italian based, not english, which is fine, we didnt want to play water polo anyway were having too much fun on the waterslide.
So all in all a fantastic holiday, which was lovely from the start, negative points, perhaps, the fact there was no nightime entertainment ( shame to go to Egypt & not see a bellydancer), italians were a bit loud & the mini bars in the room only had water in, no fruit juice, or beers, but these points did not stop it beng a great holiday.
many thanks to the staff who made it special, Sharif from the italian resteraunt & Miak from the Bar both went the distance to make it special for us.
Will we return? You betcha!!!!!
