Depending on the time of year there are big creatures to be found here and this is the main attraction. Currents are variable and dive guides often have to react to the conditions under the water, deviating from the brief as a result.
I've had a few dives here and have seen hammerhead sharks (in the distance at 35m+ depth), whale shark (25m depth) and some of the smaller reef shark species too.
This reef is fantastic to look at in its own right, although some divers get little chance to view it when the current is strong!
It is alive with lion fish, moray eels, the numerous types of fish that are typically found on reefs in this area plus well hidden stonefish.
I have seen photos of the oceanic white tips and the smiling faces of the divers who took them after spending a day diving on this reef.
Best to have some experience of drift diving, deep diving and also rougher sea conditions before going here to ensure you are relaxed and get the most enjoyment from diving this reef.
The quality of the site makes it very popular with day boats from local dive centres and the big liveaboards.
