“Nothing to see!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

Elpinestone Reef was very disappointing. we didn't see allot and the dives where very short. The current can be very strong there and i think it is a good rule that you have to have at least 50 dives.

it is a nice daytrip but not very special in my eyes.

“Great shark diving site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

This is perfect diving spot if you want to see Sharks. It's not easy dive site, because usualy there are strong currents. You have to have Advanced certification to dove there, and further more you have to have skills. As a revard you have a good chance of meeting sharks. They are always there, but usually stay below 40m, so there is no guarantee.

“Just sublime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2011

You need to have a minimum 50 dives. The best place we found to go from was Breka Bay hotel and just blast out on a RIB at 7am and back from breakfast!

“Worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2011

This is a good wall dive on an outer reef. two drift dives, one round each side. NOT recommended unless you have your PADI Advanced OWD and at least 50 dives (you decend to 30m). Similar to but better than Jackson Reef in Sharm but not as busy.

Trip very dependent on the wind levels so prone to cancellation.

“Definitely visit if you dive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

Let me first say that I am one fo the few divers that does not want to see an oceanic white tip - but have still dived here in '09, '10 & '11...It is worth a visit just for the 'normal' marine life in abundance on this reef. But on balance if you go to sharm or marsa and only do one long trip either on a day boat, safari boat or a liveaboard I would pick SS Thislegorm above this just for the sheer bratehtaking experience of watching tuna come in at night and feed. Shame there isnt an option to reviewThistlegorm as in myexperience it;s the best dive in red sea that is accesible without doing a week on a liveaboard. Elphinstone is still very good though and you should go if you can
