Stayed here from 30th January-13th February 2013.
When I was reading the reviews, the most important thing to me was getting information on the sealife/snorkelling, so this is where I will start. Me and my husband were in room 3601, which was a 5 minute stroll to the beach, which was ideal. You are guaranteed to see turtles and, of course, lots of different varieties of fish. To see the turtles, you swim forward to where the seagrass is and then take a left to the coral reef when you have spent enough time with the turtles. The turtles are so lovely and we were treated to something really special - seeing a baby one, which moved much quicker than the larger ones, who generally just plod along munching all the time. Sadly, the hotel next door to the Hilton does not seem to have the coral protectors which the Hilton employ and friends of ours who were staying there saw a Russian man standing on a turtle pretending to surf for a photo opportunity and pulling it down by its flipper when it went up for air. This sort of behaviour is so upsetting and really does show the human race at its worst. In fact, had I seen it, I could see myself being arrested as I could not keep quiet!! The Hilton did not seem to have these sort of problems with the guests, so that is to their credit. The coral protectors do a great job with their whistle when they see people straying from where they should be. This really is the only way to preserve their beautiful reef.
Trips - the Dolphin House trip is a must. We were lucky to see a pod of 22 dolphins and we got to swim alongside them as they had temporarily left the comfort of their bay to play. It was a magical experience. The dugong trip was fantastic too, and we got to swim with Dyson the dugong for about 15 minutes before he swam off, at an alarming speed given his size. He is so cute - he looks like he is smiling from the side. The quad biking was brilliant fun and I found Nino to be really funny and friendly. We were there low season, so unfortunately one of the trips we wanted to do - Sharm el Loli - was cancelled as there weren't enough people who wanted to do it. Never mind though, I know we will go back.
The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable and the towell art brilliant. We had a romantic meal in our room on our last night - we had our own waiter who came and went with the courses. The courses were on the large side and could've fed 4 and not 2, but were delicious.
Shopping - you must pay a visit to the lovely Osama who runs the shop which sells snorkles, gifts, cigarettes, coke, crisps etc. He is very friendly and sweet and we often went and sat with him for a chat of an evening.
Food - great choice and it is the best food I've had in an Egyptian hotel. The seafood night was my favorite - crab cooked over a bbq was quite frankly devine and I could've eaten it all day long. They cook the meat beautifully so it's tender and falls apart. I think it's probably cooked in a clay oven to get that tenderness. We ended up becoming friends with the lovely Ahmed in the main dining area, who looked after our needs wonderfully. Within minutes of us arriving, he had decorated a table, got my wine and my husband's beer and he looked after us like we were old friends.
All in all, a fantastic hotel and a wonderful holiday. I'm only gutted that I am now back in London! Can't wait to go again.
