“first visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Most of the other guests we spoke to had been to this hotel at least once before, which speaks for itself. It was our first visit and we will also be going back asap. There is a general culture of excellent service everywhere in the hotel. Just a few of the staff who deserve a special mention are Ahmed, Syed and Hamdy in the main restaurant, Alaa the poolside waiter, Sam the club waiter, Ali the cleaner of room 2817 and Natalia the customer relations manager. Sue the Thomson rep and Hayley the club singer also deserve recognition. There is room for improvement in the a la carte restaurants and the pub, and the gym is too small, but that is not the fault of the staff who all work extremely hard. The freindliness of the staff must rub off on the guests........Dave and Joan, Philip and Julie, Ant and Tracy, and everyone else we met while we were at the hotel.

This was my second visit to this beautiful hotel. The staff not only remembered us from last year and made us feel very welcome, but made our stay so enjoyable from remembering what drinks we had to topping up our drinks without us asking (well done Ahmed, our 'jubbly lovely waiter')
The food this year was much improved and much hotter than last year. Though the queue in the restaurant for hot food was long at peak times.
This holiday was to relax in the sun and thats just what we did. The pool waiters were fantastic and even the guys selling massages and beauty treatments left us alone this year (maybe they remembered us too?) There was no pressure to join in the animation but made to feel very welcome when I joined the yoga class one day.
The staff really cannot do enough for you here. Our room was kept beautifully clean with no pressure as to when we left or returned to the room, and on 2 occasions our beds were decorated in petals. There is also no pressure to tip anyone (but we tipped great service as we recieved it)
Admitedly the black flag once again flew for most of our holiday, but with the warm weather and the heated pool this was not a problem.
Our only disappointment was our trip booked to Luxor (organised by Thompsons which cost £89 per person)
We left the hotel at 03:45 by coach and it took 4 hours to get to Luxor. The promised half way stop for coffee and toilet break did not happen and The Valley of the Kings was shut due to protestors (all 10 of them) and after several visits to empty temples that were not in the itinery we endured a 6 and a half hour trip back to the hotel arriving back at 22:30. This has nothing to do with the hotel and I am taking this up with Tompsons, but be aware if you book a trip like this (Tompsons knew about the protests but chose not to inform us until later in the afternoon by our guide)

Room Tip: All rooms are good, this hotel is not your noisy Magaluf type hotel. Our room was near the pool and...

9th time in Egypt and definitely one of the better hotels for cleanliness, service and food quality. We were there end Feb beginning March and it was a tad windy and chilly but with temperatures in the 26-30 degree range it was much warmer than the UK. It was the wind that carried a real chill.

Grounds were kept beautifully with more attention to detail that you would normally see.

Tip on exchanging money - the BEST rate we got was the automated exchange machine in the hotel arcade. Feed in Sterling, USD, Euro and you get Egyptian pounds at a rate that beats anything we could have got in the UK by a clear mile. At the end of Feb we received 10 Egyptian pounds for every pound sterling fed into the machine.

Cannot comment on many of the facilities as we just really used it as a place to sleep when we were not diving with Emperor Divers who were located in the hotel next door (the Resta Reef).

The only criticism I can make is that the bed was ROCK hard but other than that I would happily recommend the hotel, especially for families.

My husband and i got back from this lovely hotel on Tuesday and i am sooooo cold! the hotel was lovely, staff attentive without being in your face (apart from the salesmen - more of them later). Altho a long flight in what must have been thomson's oldest plane the transfer time was about fifteen minutes, check in very smooth with plenty of people processing, an apple juice to refresh and a buggy ride to your room, luggage arriving ten minutes later. i cannot fault the food in the main restaurant, altho i did hear comments from guests about the lack of choice WHAT?? every night there was a beef dish, a chicken dish, a fish dish, one night they had freshly cooked sirloin steaks, bbq out on the terrace, pasta with a range of stuff to go with, a huge range of salads and bread, oh and soups every night too!! and the sweet counter had about twenty different cakes and fresh fruit - all the sweets were heavy on the coconut tho! -but i suppose if you are used to eating horseburger and chips then you might feel intimitated! BTW they did fresh burgers and deep fried onion rings on our last night. the room was always cleaned well, we tipped the room boy £2 at the begining and again at the end. a couple of pound coins to the guys in the restaurant and the bar and they remember what you drink and you never have to have an empty glass. Altho very warm the sea was very rough during our stay and the beach was 'black flagged' on many days which annoyed some people who had obviously gone for the sole purpose of snorkelling - the jetty was closed off most of nour stay but that was for the safety of the guests. we had a room overlooking the sea and altho a bit of a walk from the bars and restaurants it was nice to stroll back in the evening. we ate in the marsa club on one night which is not included in your all inclusive. the beach restaurant was still being finished off when we were there - in fact if you sunbathed in the wrong place on the beach you would have felt the creosote from the spray gun on your face!!! the restaurant staff and spa staff pounce on the pale skinned (ie newcomers) and to be honest i got a bit shirty with them - one guy from the spa on my first day said that becos my english skin was so pasty and obviously in poor condition i really should have a massage before i sunbathed!! - bet i wouldn;t have got away with saying that his skin was so covered in acne that it wasn;t a very good advert for his treaments. My only real gripe about the place tho was the 'professional' entertainment in the conference room - rubbish! the female singer in the marsa club bar was good tho. All in all a lovely relaxing holiday, if you get invited to the managers cocktail party please go - the management are really interested in what you think of the place. Husband is already saying he wants to go back later on this year

I just came back from one week (23.2.-2.3.-13) holiday in Resta Grand Hotel and we loved it. I travelled with my mom. The hotel is very clean and beautiful. Rooms are nice and large enough for the pleasant stay.
Pool area is big enough to relaxin and swim at the pool without crowded. Pool bar staff was also very kind and they come to ask its everything allright and bring refreshments.
Food is good and there is many options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, everything is tastfull and good quality. We have allinclusiv so we eat at the Space restaurant buffet. Only minus at the buffet restourant was drinks. I like that waiters should have been come and ask what we want to drink, at the beginning of a meal. At this time I often must pick drinks my self or wait too long.
After dinner we usually goes to out of Marsa´s club house terrace or went in and listen very good singers name Haily. At the Marsa´s club were very friendly and caring staff. They always take care of you comfort very well. Special thanks to Osh, who is very friendly, polite, correct and quickly. He always have warmly smile on her face when he take care customers at the bar in the evenings.
I would like to go back this hotel, hopefully next season.

My husband and I have just returned from a week at the Resta Grand Resort, which we visited for the first time. This is a lovely hotel, set in lovely grounds which are immactulately kept. The rooms are large with a seating area, tea and coffee making facilities, flat screen TV and a big bathroom with everything you need, including hairdryer. The room was well maintained with daily service and clean sheets/towels daily.
The hotel is all inclusive and the restaurant serves food buffet style. The meals have a variety of cuisines, including a pasta station every evening and a BBQ on the terrace. As a vegetarian I had ample choice from the salad bar and my husband, who is not a vegetarian, had more than enough choice evey mealtime. The only issue I have with the restaurant is that even though the hotel was not busy you would come to dinner and tables were not set, half set or missing the odd pieces of cutlery or napkins, which was often difficult to obtain due to the staff being very busy! Also service was random in that some evenings waiters would clear the starter plates immediately or not at all and the same for main and dessert plates. On more than one evening we were left with a stack of plates at the tables. Drinks service was also random and it was easier to get your own!
The bar was a nice area with good service, especially Sam who was always smiling and helpful. However this area, as everywhere except for the restaurant was a smoking area which i found very unpleasant on some evenings. The beach bar was closed due to being low season so if you do not like smoking there is nowhere indoors that you can relax and enjoy your evening.
I have stayed in many hotels in Egypt as a diver and this hotel is clean, nicely laid out with pleasant staff. It offers value for money but although the service is often with a smile it is lacking in excellence but I would come back again as once you realise what you need to do to get a drink, or cutlery is you go ahead and get your own!
