“Enjoy the beach !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

I was in Port Ghalib for the Eastern holidays this year and last year 2012.
I want to congratulate the InterContinental hotel with his great staff at the beach.
Especially Taher Yassen and his crew ! He was always ready to help whenever help was needed.
Information, first-aid, snorkling lessons, swimming etc... Everything you ask for, he will do with a smile He's one of the many people ( including his co-workers) that makes you are enjoying your stay at the beach even when it's cloudy weather !
Keep up the good work and take care of yourselves !
To the management of the hotel : This is a keeper !
Already i make reservation for november 2013.

Wow! What a fantastic Hotel! A real Beauty. Fantastic meeting facilities. our meetings were professionally handled. We had a wonderful break. Great staff, very at tentative, wonderful views good food good evening entertainment. You could not as for a better place to relax and unwind. The diving is excellent. Probably the best in Egypt. Unspoiled and very clean, unlike sharm and Hurghada. A hotel stay not to be missed.

Friendly, clean, hospitable, great spa, direct access to beach with coral reef and fab snorkeling. Friday night had an egyptian theme and a top class dancer in the dervish style which was exceptional and not just tourist film flam.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view

Having just returned from a week`s stay at the Intercontinentel Palace, Port Ghalib; we feel rested and restored.
If you are in need of some`R and R `, then this might just be the hotel that you are looking for.
Your worries will just melt away as you let the staff do what they do best; which is to cater for your every need.
Hassan is always on hand to check that everything is running smoothly. The reception staff are always welcoming and their command of English is excellent-as in the case of Yasser Mohammed- which means that they can easily iron out any tiny wrinkles should they arise.
With the day to day room service in the hands of the experienced Toba, our room was cleaned to such a high standard that the only decision we needed to make on our own behalf was; what should we choose to eat at the evening buffet?
So many thanks to all the staff at the Intercontinentinel Palace for enabling us to recharge our batteries in style!

Room Tip: They are all very good

The hotel is amazing practically on the beach and with two huge and beautiful swimming pools to accomodate all tastes. One is a lagoon with salt water which makes it rather special.
The SPA is also very beautiful and therapists are very competent and professional.
The rooms are spacious, clean and very well equipped and worthy of mention is the hotel's personnel: all very pleasant and ready to help whatever a guest might need.
Perhaps what we were least enthousistic about is the food which was not as high level as the rest but in any case there was a wide selection to accomodate all tastes.

Room Tip: Rooms with seaview are certainly to be recommended

We had an excellent time at this hotel. The room was nice and the service very good. There were more than enough beds at the pool and the beach. Furthermore, there is a beautiful coral reef right at the beach where we snorkeled allmost every morning. The staff is extremely friendly and we would especially like to mention the housekeeper Toba who was always available if you needed anything. We will probably be visiting this hotel again in the near future.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

We stayed at the Palace for a week from 27th March. We had two sea view rooms with interconnection doorway. The rooms were very nice and spacious with large walk in showers, separate toilet and large dressing area. The rooms were kept very clean and were serviced at least twice per day.
The resort is fantastic and with the lovely beach and excellent snorkelling at the end of the short pier it is just a magnificent place for a restful week.

On the downside the hotel is still very quiet, as is the whole Port Ghalib area; as a result it is seriously understaffed. We stayed three years ago and it was noticeable then, it is so much worse now. They really are stuck between a rock and a hard place. The hotel has the capacity to be one of the best in the world but without the visitors they cannot staff it as it needs to be staffed.
The result is that it takes for ever to be served in both the restaurant and at the bar. It is now almost impossible to attract a waiter for drinks at the pool. In addition the communal areas are not as tidy as they used to be with cigarette butts and general waste to be found without looking too hard. The pool is clean but is not skimmed very often and as a result you get quite a lot of dried vegetation on the surface which detracts from what is a fantastic pool.
Another issue resulting from the lack of patronage is the restricted choice of food at both breakfast and dinner. We got so fed up with the limited choice at breakfast that we didn’t even bother to eat at the hotel on two of our seven mornings. The buffet at nigh is really disappointing for such a lovely hotel and grand dining hall. To make matters even worse it is almost impossible to attract the attention of a waiter for drinks or to clear the table, we ended up clearing our own table on several occasions. On this trip we saw two large and very colourful shiny cockroaches, one by the pool and one in our room, I cannot say if this is a result of lack of staff however we didn’t see any on our last visit. After we seen the second (by the pool) I couldn’t help looking for more, particularly in the dining areas and bars but didn’t see any more for the rest of the holiday.

The staff that are currently employed are generally very helpful, in fact the concierge, the reception staff and the general management are all particularly helpful and very pleasant to deal with. The restaurant manager was not quite as nice and she seemed to be far to interested in looking about than actually getting anything done, not once did we see her actually do anything other than wander about. The general restaurant staff are too busy running around to be anything other than irritable.

As far as the surrounding area is concerned there is not really a lot to see or do (which is actually why we chose to go back) other than the port area which is a five minute stroll away. The corniesh has some shops and café’s. A TGI Fridays, Pizza Hut, Costa coffee shop, a bar and an Italian restaurant. It is all very quiet, which has the unfortunate consequence that the shop owners pester you every time you walk anywhere near them. (If they actually left you alone you would probably look into the shops but the just pester the life out of you to the point that you just avoid the shopping area all together).
Without a doubt the biggest draw to the area is the snorkelling and scuba diving, it is truly fantastic. Even at the end of the short pier you will see all sorts of wonderful fish and coral, it really is like swimming in a tropical fish tank. If you want to snorkel or scuba t the corniesh you will find Extra Divers and you can also book locally with Emperor Divers, both are really great however our favourite by far was our day out on the catamaran Ocean Diva, it is an absolute must for anyone visiting the area.

We tried the six senses spa at the hotel the day before we left, it was very good however it is quite cosrly.

I hope the hotel improves staffing levels and I hope they attract more guests as it really is a terrific hotel.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your remarks and genuine review to consider our resort as fantastic describing our lovely beach which you had an excellent snorkeling at the end of the short pier and it was a magnificent place for a restful week.
We welcome all constructive criticism, as it helps us get better; sorry to disappoint you in terms of service delay and focusing on some details like the cigarette buttes.. Pool and others disappointing points that you crabbed to our attention to be corrected.
