We spent a couple of nights here and could have happily stayed for far longer. Jean the landlady is the perfect host, providing a comfortable and sparkling home from home. We were astonished to discover that as well as the large and comfortable bedroom, we had our own sitting room overlooking Newport Bay, which in the cold and blowy June we have just had, was very welcome.
Newport itself is a great base for walking and exploring, with many good places to eat and a great beach. We ate at the Royal Oak and Golden Lion pubs, both very reasonable, good food with local ingredients.
