I just returned from Club Med Bora Bora and it was fantastic. I read reviews beforehand just so that I could get a realistic idea of what it is like and I must say it was better then when I read.
The day you show up you may have to do a little work to get your week set but after a little time just sit back an enjoy your time. The food is great, there is a different theme every night and even though I was there for two weeks and you can get tired of the same thing you could always find something great (mine was the breads and cheeses).
Make sure that you book some excursions while your there and if you are into diving you must go with TOP DIVE, the staff are so friendly and funny if I may add. The beds are hard and if you don't like that you shouldn't be in your room much anyways. The staff were all great but don't rely on them to make your vacation great because I do believe that you should make your own vacation great as our group managed to. The buggies are good but the novelty wears off quickly so a half day should suffice but do visit the pearl farm and the vanilla shop. Everyone suggested Bloody Marys restaurant but it didn't do much for me, although I could have caught them on a bad day.
The dock is a nice place to relax because there is both sun and shade. We brought a soft cooler and it worked well to save travels to the bar as there is only one. A climb up the hill is a must, it takes about 10 minutes. All in all I commend the Club Med Staff and I challenge anyone that goes to have as good a time as we had when we were down there.

I read a few of the negative reviews and wondered what we were going to. We are an older Australian couple (67 and 61) and we thought the whole place and surroundings were fantastic and we have been around for a while and been to loads of places. The rooms were a good size, the bed comfy and there was a frig and tea making facilities, you need to get tea bags from the dining room but thats no problem. Snacking and drinks all the time too. Nice hot shower and a wonderful view of the beach and islands in the distance. Get a beach bungalow, the ordinary rooms are a bit ordinary! The food was fabulous, the choice amazing and the Americans were well catered for with their hamburger ingredients, french fries and coco cola!!
I wouldn't go again, too many other places to go to, and Bora Bora generally was expensive as is all of French Polynesia. Go on the trip around the lagoon, it was great. The tennis courts were good too, no swimming pool but the sea was lovely and warm and so so blue.

I would recommend that anyone planning to go to French Polynesia for their honeymoon get a second job, take out a loan, etc. and stay at one of the more expensive resorts on Bora Bora. Bora Bora is definitely one of the most beautiful places on Earth and everyone should try to go there at least once in their lifetime. It would just be much better if you don't stay at Club Med.

First, Club Med booked us on an evening flight from Papeete to Bora Bora, notwithstanding the fact that we had arrived in Papeete at midnight and would quite willingly have taken an early morning flight as opposed to wasting a whole day waiting to get to Bora Bora (we were never given a choice). Upon our arrival at Bora Bora at 8:00 pm, we were rushed to our mold-ridden room and told that if we didn't eat by 9:00 pm, we would be unable to get any food for the rest of the night.

Club Med did change our room the next day after we advised them of the mold problem, but two days later I was awakened by the bite of what was quite likely a bed bug. Upon looking at my arm immediately after I had been bitten, I noticed that the top layer of skin had been removed from my arm in two places. No one at Club Med was able to explain what could have caused this. We also noticed that the maid had failed to change the sheets from the day before, despite our request that the room be made up daily. The mattresses were very old and quite dirty, which is likely why the bed bugs were able to thrive.

Club Med also booked our return flight to Papeete and barely gave us enough time to catch our flight back to the United States.

Admittedly, the food was good, but that really couldn't cover the negative feelings that were created by our bad experiences. Club Med claims to be the most inclusive, however, it actually turned out to be very non-inclusive as most of the water sports were not included and Club Med's rates for the water sports were very high.

Based on our experience, we will never stay at another Club Med property.

First of all I would like to thank all the people that put really bad negative revues about club med bora bora, the reason why is because of you people i went there with really low expectations and once i got there ............WOW i really don't know where you guys stayed at or maybe there are 2 club meds because the one i went to was just amazing, it kind of makes me wonder what were your motives for those bad revues..........
Anyway for people that are going to Club med do not worry this place is just awesome, we went there for our honeymoon for a period of 2 weeks which is enough time to really see this place inside out!
So here's the rundown on club med bora bora,
FOOD out of this world, only one restaurant and its buffet style and honestly they blow away some "a la carte" restaurants that we've been too, anything you want they had, the bread watch out it is addictive you won't stop eating it, they have theme nights almost every night and even after 2 weeks we did not get sick of the food (since the second week its repetitive).
ROOMS no there were not any marble floors but the rooms were causy and big for at least 2 people the views from any room were just great, we did have the company of a geico but they don't bother you and they eat bugs so its a good thing to have one around and there kind of cute, the showers were ok we had good pressure in our room, 2 safes in the room and free, t.v well WHO CARES your in paradise but the one's who care only 9 channels and only 1 english cnn (what a surprise)! we had our things (camera and money and camcorder) laying around for 2 weeks and nothing got stolen!!! The beds, yes it is 2 queens put together but it did not bother us a bit and they weren't that uncomfortable the way some people discribed them, so don't worry you will sleep just fine!
THE SHOWS at night, I do not recall paying any admission fee to go see the shows nor do i recall someone forcing me to go see the shows, the ones we saw were very amusing and no its not broadway its club med and the staff work really hard to put on show to amuse us,so if you don't like the shows just walk out and stop complaining about it, remember ITS FREE!!!!!!
CLUB MED is the only happening hotel in bora bora, there are plenty of activities during the day starting at 9.00am and the last activity was at 5.00 pm (streching), they do not force any one to participate but i strongly recommend that you do, 1- its fun and 2- you have to burn all those calories you will be eating at there restaurant.
THE BAR great service sometime short staff on busy nights but for the most of it, it was great they had all the drinks and also some snacks (doritoes and lays and peanuts) drink drink your on vacation!
THE STAFF i have a hard time believing what some people wrote concerning the staff at club med, most of them speak at least 3 languages maybe not fluent but they make a hell of an effort, very friendly staff and they will eat with you during the supper and lunch or breakfast but of course they ask first.
Over all it is a great place go and have lots of fun , the snorkling is amazing but bring some bread with you and the fish will eat off your hands (seriously) don't worry about the equipment its just fine!!! go to the motu and enjoy the beach, the only thing the excursions are a bit cheaper if you book it on your own outside the club med .
GREAT STAFF, GREAT FOOD you are in the middle of paradise enjoy and dont worry about this place you won' t regret it!!!!

“All Inclusive Great at Club Med!”

My partner and I wanted something a little bit nicer than ordinary for a holiday away together, and since he was going to be in the Tahiti area and had been recommended Bora Bora by people we had a look around and ended up choosing Club Med.
I booked us in with the All Inclusive (which includes food and drinks) and found that it was a great way to have it, as no worrying about what you are eating or drinking (and since one of the days was not very good weatherwise we sat in the bar and talked and had cocktails which was lovely).
The food was great - they have buffet meals which are fabulous with different themes for the evening meals. I put on about 2kg in the days that we stayed there as wanted to try everything as it all looked and tasted devine! The restuarant is well set out and very clean and tidy, also a great little feature is they have little fridges with bottles of wine that you can select to have with your meals.
They have quite a few activites that you can join in or do your own thing if you want, they have a night time show/ entertainment that the staff put on which are usually little skits etc that they staff have made up, good fun!
We made our own way to the Club Med (which we had to discuss with the staff on check out, as they were going to charge us for a transfer from the airport!), as they tend to use there own vehicles for transfers (which is fine). Also, the staff out checkout didnt seem to be particuarlarly well organised, and didnt speak english overally well, but we got sorted out which was the main thing!
The resort is lovely, it is well laid out and is kept in great condition, we had a "big sea" when we stayed there which washed out sand from the beach and damaged some of the units (lucky we were in a garden unit so were fine), but the staff quickly worked to get things looking good again. (Found it quite funny to sea that they actually trucked sand in from another beach). I booked the garden room which is slightly cheaper than the one by the sea, and I found it to be great, so if you dont mind walking up a small flight of stair sot your room then you can get a cheaper room. The room was lovely, a nice big room, with a big bed, and nice shower, with lovely view of the sea from the balcony.
I recommed that you dont leave the resort - unless you are on a booked tour, as outside the resort it is quitre run down, even the town is not very good for such a quality tourist destination.
We hired a submarine trip which was great fun (as we got to see the reef without getting wet), we were disappointed that we couldnt snorkel, as the sea had been stirred up by the bad weather.
All in all, I had a great time at Club Med, and would consider staying at a Club Med if travelling to other locations.
