“Hilton Bora Bora Resort & Spa”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

Beautiful location with stunning "over water bungalows". Hotel looks a bit old & "rustic" (in need of a renovation ??) with some service issues. Otherwise a great, albeit expensive (it is Tahiti), place to stay.

We stayed at this property for part of our honeymoon. EVERYTHING was FABULOUS AND AMAZING!!! After getting off the boat from the airport we were treated so well in the lobby area. It was the most stress free check-in we have ever had!
We had incredible service - from the restaurants to the hotel staff.
The food was amazing, even breakfast (and I am picky for breakfast)
By far the nicest property we have ever stay at to date. Our room exceeded our expectations. It was gorgeous and spotless. We felt so welcomed all the time. Honestly could not have asked for anything better for our honeymoon. It would be a dream to go back someday. Highly recommend to all looking for a fantastic stress free experience.

Room Tip: if you are going to travel all the way to Bora Bora the water bungalow is a must. It is an amazing...

My husband and I traveled to Hilton Bora Bora in August 2013 for our honeymoon. We stayed in an overwater villa and I have to say that this place is amazing! The resort itself it so beautiful and clean. Upon arrival we did have to wait for a room as we arrived early morning. While nobody really likes to wait but I understood why. This place is not easy to get to and unfortunately rooms aren't available until around lunch time due to cleaning schedules. We were able to store our luggage at the front desk, grab some breakfast and then lounge at the pool for a couple hours until our room was available. It bothers me that people complain about this. If you book a room anywhere, check in usually isn't until afternoon anyhow. I think people need to realize that just becuase you are in such a remote location doesn't mean the hote operation is any different. The scenery of the resort is asolutely breathtaking. The entire resort is very quiet and relaxing. Once we did get to our room I was very happy with the overwater villa. It was very spacious and everything I had hoped for in our trip. We spent a lot of time lounging on our deck and snorkeling during the day around our 'room'. The amount of sea life and coral you could see snorkeling around the resort was amazing and the water was crystal clear. We had amazing weather the entire time. It never rained once but it did get a little chilly at night so make sure you bring a light jacket if you get cold easily. The food at the restaurants on property was also very good - I still would love to have another serving of the Duck Confit!!! You do have to make reservations for the evening meals and I suggest you do that the day before or as soon as you wake up as they do fill up pretty fast. We did have one night where we had reservations but had to wait an addition 30 minutes to be seated. Other than that we have no complaints on service at dinner. If you want to leave the resort you have to do so by boat transfer. They have multiple times that the boat runs so you can explore the main island for as little or long as you would like. There is a cost associated with this but it's not super expensive. We did book some excursions while we were there. The best one by far was the Lagoonarium tour. You are given a tour around the entire island by boat with locals explaining the history of the island. Eventually you will end up at the Lagoonarium where they have sea life you can see/touch and swim with. The part of this excursion that blew my mind was that out in the bay they stop at one point and all you can see is sharks. Mostly black tip reef sharks. They chum the water constantly so the sharks are always there along with stingrays and a large amount of tropical fish. They asked us to get in the water. Half the boat refused but I coudln't pass it up. The sharks are so used to people that they do not care that you are there and they are fed so often that they are content. The fact that I was swimming in the open ocean of the South Pacific with a large number of sharks is something I will be talking about for years to come. It was scary yet exciting at the same time and most definitely a once in a lifetime experience. The Lagoonarium was also great but the swimming with the sharks was the icing on the cake. I could write for hours about this trip, the island and the resort. I have never been so relaxed coming home from a vacation. The island is very quiet as is the resort. It's beautiful and romantic and worth every cent that I paid to be there. A couple pieces of advice - I would buy duty free alcohol and snacks before you leave the U.S. as things are very expensive in Tahiti/Bora Bora since pretty much everything is imported. We bought 2 liters of soda and a bag of Lays potato chips in Bora Bora and it was about $35 U.S. Craziness! In addition, even though the HIlton will exchange money at the resort, please do this before you arrive. The resort keeps an additional 10% to exchange currencies. I refused to do this and instead used my credit card which charged me a % per transaction but it was much less than 10%. You should also try to not overpack. I spent most days in my bathing suit and used my coverup. I only really put on regular clothes to go to dinner each night. In addition I would suggest bringing a pair of water shoes if you want to walk out into the water from the beach. There is a lot of dead coral and it really hurts your bare feet. This place is amazing - I can only hope that I will be able to go back again at some point in my life!

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are pretty far away from the main eating/pool area. Be prepared for a long walk i...

Ia Orana KCLH07!

Thank you very much for your review following your recent stay at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa!

We are pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for you for your comments.

Thank you for mentioning our readers to bring "water shoes". Reef shoes are even better when swimming and snorkeling to avoid walking on dead corals when accessing the sea. Again, an underwater camera (GoPro type) is a good thing to bring to our Resort.

Again, thank you for your comments. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back in the near future!

We stayed in one of the overwater bungalows. Extremely roomy and private - one of the largest accommodations I've ever had. Restaurants were very good. Breakfast was very good, but slightly limited in variety compared to other resorts where we've stayed. Lots of free activities, plus a knowledgeable concierge to help with other activities. We also used their boat to get to and from the airport, which was very convenient and not too expensive. All in all a beautiful resort that we thoroughly enjoyed.

One of the world's most beautiful Island, the Tahitian villas overlooking a beautiful blue lagoon in a natural setting. This is a sanctuary for both of us a peaceful tropical escape. We both loved it and didn't want to leave. I'll remember forever.

A lot of our Guests agree with you....they do not want to leave and plan, while still here, for their next vacation in Bora Bora. Others will tell you that reality is better than the dream and that they did not believe the pictures before discovering our lagoon!

You expect relax, beautiful sea, romantic experience... should go to this hotel!

•Access:
Hilton's boat will take you to the hotel within 15min from Bora bora airport. You can check in in the boat .

•Rooms:
I recommended over water villa. You can swim in the ocean whenever you want; morning, after lunch, sunset...
Beautiful fishes are waiting for you.

I looked around another hotels in bora bora and many corals are under Hiton's villa.

Of course room rate is high.
Don't miss the discount for early booking.

•Restaurant:
Delicious but menu is normal.
If you want to eat local foods, you should go to Vaitape which is town of bora bora.
It takes 10min by Hilton boat.

•Entertainment:
Sea kayaks and other beach goods are available for free.

We are pleased to learn that you enjoyed your stay in our Resort.

Thank you for mentioning the number of corals available to see right under our Villas. They are truly amazing and attract numbers of incredible fishes for our Guests to see. As usual, I recommend future guests not to forget to bring a Gopro camera....

The hotel is gorgeous, along with the beautiful infinity pool. If you're looking into this property, you're likely already aware of the costs. For such a rate, we would have expected better service at check-in, as we waited about 20 minutes for someone to come over to the area where they asked us to wait.
The property is well-kept and the staff is quite friendly.
The food at the restaurants is exceptional, but anticipate dealing with some flying bugs if you eat outside -- this is to be expected, of course.
Having snorkeled around the entire property, we found that some of the overwater rooms had a great deal more coral than others, which poses some challenges if your dream is to jump off your deck into the water. Look before you leap! We were fortunate to have a room with at least 20 feet of water depth right off the deck.
I recommend this property.

Room Tip: Overwater rooms nearest to the main office seem to have more water depth just off their decks.

As a information for our readers it is always a good practise, when going to a tropical country to spray some mosquito repellent on your visible body parts, early in the morning and as soon as the sun goes down. It must be a natural gesture such as to apply sunscreen every two hours during the day!
