“Amazing - Thanks Pacific for less”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Thanks to Pacific for less for helping my wife and I book our honeymoon. I was a bit skeptical about using a travel agent, but I'm really glad we did. Took the guesswork out of trying to plan a once in a lifetime trip and helped keep our stress to a minimum. She even came in under budget.

This resort is incredible. We toured the bora bora island, and after looking at the other resorts, I'd stay here again. The ferry to the main island is not even 10 minutes long. The staff is relaxed and friendly. Not pretentious. At this point you've probably already googled pictures of the resort, and it is even prettier in person. It's private. Cost wise, it's pretty reasonable compared to the "even higher"-end resorts, and it's was plenty nice for us.

Room Tip: -The upgrade to the premium is worth it, the views of the island from your balcony are, well I hate...

Stayed at Le Meridien in January 2013. While the hotel is pretty to look at, it certainly lacks in many areas! You first arrive by boat from the airport, which you have travelled a bit to get here, and then you have to WALK to reception which is a bit away and up 2 flights of stairs!! Then you are taken to your bungelow. There is a mini frig, which is not stocked and there is not even a bottle of water in the room! Have to call room service for even this basic. No one explains how to operate the TV and monsoon season is all day rain and boring! Buffet is ok, but half of the offerings are not labeled or labeled incorrectly, so there are a lot of surprises. The dance show was at a high school level, not very good. Nice property, but hotel needs to get it together and do a lot more to earn some stars!

Room Tip: If you are traveling this far go for the extra $$ and get overwater bungelow.

The location is excellent located on an island with only 2-3 other hotels on it, Only accessible by boat. The hotel is picturesque and offers free snorkeling equipment, and has its own lagoon preserve that is nice to snorkel around. The restaurant bar has good food, room service food is ok but not our favorite. For the dinner restaurant if you don't want to eat the buffet make a reservation in advance. They also have a turtle preserve that you can't swim In but is beautiful and if you go in the morning time you can see them feed the turtles which is quite entertaining. The over water huts are beautiful, although the sea life swimming under ours was lacking, it was nice to jump off your private deck at the end of the day into the ocean, try to get shut farther out, otherwise the water might only be 3-4 ft deep. I also heard ones closer to the channel had better sea life swimming under it.
They offer a shuttle to town 3-4 times a day which costs $30 a person round trip, the town closes down around 5-6, except for restaurants that you should make reservations for prior to going.
At night the hotel is quiet as most of bora bora is, so if you don't like quiet, you are heading to the wrong spot.

I've waited a while to write this review as often absence makes the heart grow fonder.

The pros
Amazing property, nothing will beat the view from the owb. The natural beauty that is Bora Bora surpassed our wildest dreams.

There is a boat that will take you to the island for dinner at no charge, just register at reception to book both the boat and restaurant. Mai Kai was amazing! The highlight food wise of our trip. Expect to pay minimum $50 each for one course with wine at any of the main island restaurants.

There is also a shuttle to the St Regis free of charge, their bar does great cocktails plus there is a sushi restaurant on site.

The round the island boat trip was fantastic!

The cons
[--] food. I mean truly awful. We practically lived on pastry, bread and fruit while at the resort because the food was overpriced, and lacking anything resembling good taste. We were appreciative of the distance covered to get supplies in and out, however, why bother with a "fancy" French menu if it cannot be done well? Bring a bag and help yourself to a croissant for lunch too. They don't care... Why should you?

The staff are very much on island time, I suspect it's a big joke to them when a guest calls to ask for new instant coffee because the ones in the room are white and disintegrated. I'm not sure it's deliberate, just they don't know anything else. The owners and managers of this property should be ashamed.

When you pay this much to stay somewhere you expect the details to be looked after.

The property is so under utilised - it should be a crime. The boat bar overlooking mt otemanu shut at dusk. There is no ambience here. Be warned. If I could do it over, I'd stay at the st Regis or intercontinental.

Unbelieveable - only word to describe the place.

Staff are friendly, more friendly than surrounding hotels (trust me we visited them!), the over the water bungalows are to die for - the view!!!! The big glass floor we had was querky and awesome at nights to see fish swim by.

Yes we had bad weather (it was their worst wet season in a long time), but when we had good weather jeez it was worth the trip!

The place is expensive, but you know that going there. If you have that much trouble with the price, either dont go, or go to the supermarket on Bora Bora main land and stock up on drinks, 2 minute noodles etc etc - or just go to Bloody Mary's everynight.

Had the best week away, cant wait to go back one day.

It has taken us a while to write this review but it remained on my to do list as we had such an amazing honeymoon. We stayed here in an overwater bungalow for 4 nights. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had no worries as everything was taken care of. We booked through Custom Tahiti who helped ensure everything ran smoothly and we would reccommend them. On our arrival at the airport we were given beautiful lei's and once we identified our luggage we were whisked away by boat to the resort. At the resort we greeted and provided with a cool drink and some moist cloths. Then we were taken by golf cart to our beautiful overwater bungalow. We had previously stayed in a beach bungalow on Moorea and we were delighted we saved this experience for Bora Bora. The hut was beautiful and was spotless. Each morning we were able to jump right off into the water. Our balcony was a little shaded during the late afternoon but we could easily relocate to the beach. The breakfasts were lovely with a great selection of food. We did eat in the restaurants most nights and yes it is expensive so make sure you go hungry! We were also spoiled with a romantic dinner on the beach! All the staff we met were extremely friendly and courteous. Like many others we brought a little something with us as the cocktails are quite expensive too. We picked up a bottle of Jim Beam in LAX, got the coke from the mini bar and sat back in the evenings and enjoyed it as the sun was setting. We did the shark and sting ray feeding tour and very much enjoyed it. One tip make sure you have water shoes for the the sting ray part of the tour, everything else was provided. The highlight of our time at La Meridien though has to be the sunset kanu tour. It was magical. It was just my new husband and I with a cocktail in hand watching the sunset as our guide sailed us through the lagoon. For both of us we it was the highlight of our honeymoon and very romantic too.

I just got back from the Le Meridien in Bora Bora and have to say it was amazing! Without a doubt, Bora Bora is the most beautiful place my husband and I have ever stayed. Although not inexpensive, it was well worth the splurge! We booked our trip with Pacific For Less (I worked with Jennifer, she's fantastic) and are very glad we did, especially after speaking to other couples. Our overwater bungalow was stunning -- modern (recently renovated), beautiful interior, views of Mt. Otemanu on the main island (again, SO worth it) and a huge glass panel built in the floor to see into the water underneath the bungalow . I’m not sure what I enjoyed most, the turquoise light coming through the glass panel floor, lounging on the terrace with those incredible views, or just being able to jump in the ocean from our terrace and swim to the beach every day. One of our highlights was taking a lagoon tour with the hotel’s biologist that ended with us snorkeling with turtles in their Turtle Sanctuary.

After reading TA reviews we were concerned about having good service, but found the service at the Le Meridien to be always friendly and helpful. The food was just so-so as expected (although the Poisson Cru was really good), so we dined on the main island several times, taking a shuttle back and forth to the island and the restaurants picked us up from there. That worked fine.

Pacific For Less made reservations for us at La Villa Mahana on the main island as well (Divine! MUST do!), and thanks to Jennifer we got the most romantic table in the place, the "VIP" table alone at the top of the stairs. This was another highlight of our trip. We also went to Mai Kai in town which was fun.

From the Le Meridien we went on to the St. Regis, which was REALLY special for our 10 year anniversary. That was a BIG splurge, but again, worth it. We can't wait to return to Bora Bora, and I can definitely see us coming back to the Le Meridien.
