This was a wonderful B&B. It is in a beautiful setting about 4 miles out of Talkeetna. The hosts were very kind and helpful. Their home is spotless and very comfortable. They gave us a nice tour when we arrived and explained the house rules. In the evening Rachel made some delicious chocolate chip cookies for us. I can't say enough about this place. We just loved it!!!!

We were there on a clear day and we were able to see Mt. McKinley from the dining room window. What a view!!!

We appreciated the treats left in the room. This was a nice touch!!

Although breakfast was very good, I think this is one area the hostess could improve. She needs to be more mindful of low cholestorel diets that many people are on today.

You can't go wrong with a stay here. It is Alaska at its best.

During a recent visit to Talkeetna, our family stayed at the Talkeetna Chalet B&B. We had a wonderful visit! In fact, it was our favorite hotel/B&B of the entire trip. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The in-room mini-fridge was very handy to store our drinks and snacks during the stay. The common areas was always clean and full of items to make our stay more enjoyable including a TV, computer, restaurant menus, information about the area as well as an amazing view of Mt McKinley. The morning breakfasts were always different with plenty of food to satisfy everyone. Our hosts were really enjoyable to chat with and made sure that we felt welcome in their home. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the Talkeetna area. We can only hope to return to Alaska to get another chance to visit.

The Talkeetna Chalet was our 2nd stop on our 2+ weeks in Alaska. After such a wonderful stay at the Mangy Moose in Anchorage, I didn't think we'd find another fabulous B&B to equal it, but we did!! The TC was a great find - we loved our two nights there. We stayed in the Denali Room which was small but very clean and comfortable - the common area was great - the breakfasts were simply delicious- and Rachel was a wonderful, warm and friendly hostess. I would highly recommend the Talkeetna Chalet to anyone seeking a great place to stay!

Must do in Talkeetna: Flight-see Denali (Mt. McKinley) and land on a glacier - way cool!! Dancing with the locals at the classic and historic Fairview Inn - such fun!!

My husband and I do a lot of traveling and we don't have access to a computer, but recently a friend referred me to this website. I was actually inspired to leave a review after I read a posting referring to a recent customers stay at the Talkeetna Chalet (snomofam on June 8, 2008). My husband and I also stayed at the Talkeetna Chalet during July of last year and we had a similar experience. First of all, I also found the hostess to be very rude because we showed up slightly early. We came in on the train from Anchorage and got a ride to the Talkeetna Chalet. We checked in a little over 1 hour early and she insisted that we leave and go to town and come back in 1hour. She was located far away from town and had no compassion for the fact that we were backpacking and didn't have a vehicle. We had to sit outside in the rain until it was time for us to check in. We wanted to cancel our reservation but it was Talkeetna's busy tourist season and we had no other place to go. I found that she also neglected us and never once asked us if we needed anything. She seemed to hold a grudge towards us the rest of our stay. I'm sorry that showing up 1 hour early made her so mad. Maybe she was having a bad day. At least the room was clean and quiet.
