My husband and I do a lot of traveling and we don't have access to a computer, but recently a friend referred me to this website. I was actually inspired to leave a review after I read a posting referring to a recent customers stay at the Talkeetna Chalet (snomofam on June 8, 2008). My husband and I also stayed at the Talkeetna Chalet during July of last year and we had a similar experience. First of all, I also found the hostess to be very rude because we showed up slightly early. We came in on the train from Anchorage and got a ride to the Talkeetna Chalet. We checked in a little over 1 hour early and she insisted that we leave and go to town and come back in 1hour. She was located far away from town and had no compassion for the fact that we were backpacking and didn't have a vehicle. We had to sit outside in the rain until it was time for us to check in. We wanted to cancel our reservation but it was Talkeetna's busy tourist season and we had no other place to go. I found that she also neglected us and never once asked us if we needed anything. She seemed to hold a grudge towards us the rest of our stay. I'm sorry that showing up 1 hour early made her so mad. Maybe she was having a bad day. At least the room was clean and quiet.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this lovely bed and breakfast. It is surrounded by trees on a hill. Spacious rooms with picture windows made us feel as though we were staying in a treehouse. Such a friendly hostess! Rachel made us feel so welcome. Delicious breakfast and beautiful surroundings. It was hard to leave. I wish we had time to stay longer than just one night. We also discovered the best cinnamon rolls at the Roadhouse Cafe in Talkneetna. Take time to stop there - you won't be disappointed.

I stayed 5 nights at the Talkeetna Chalet. The accomodations are great...very clean...and tastefully decorated. The bed was wonderful! I also stayed in town (Talkeetna) a couple of nights when the Chalet did not have availability. My fave was the Chalet. It is very quiet and peaceful at Talkeetna Chalet since it is about 3 miles outside of "town". Breakfasts were wonderful and the hostess/owner is very friendly and willing to help with questions, things to do, etc. I have absolutely no complaints about Talkeetna Chalet!

Nice room, great location, and a delicious breakfast. But if you are looking for a B&B that makes you feel like part of the family this one isn't for you. Upon our arrival 2 hours early, I was greeted with "are you checking in? didn't you read your letter?" When I reread my letter I saw it said check-in between 3:00-5:00. So we left the B&B and went into town and came back 2 hours later. We were shown our room and said here are the rules and if you want to use the TV upstairs you can, that was the last we saw of our hostess until the next morning for breakfast. She talked to us some during breakfast but it wasn't what we have experienced at the other B&B's we stayed at.
