Stayed in August this past summer and had a very quiet and clean room with a bathroom right next door. The place is terrific with tons of charm and character. On top of it all, at the height of tourist season, we paid just 69 bucks for our room, almost half of what we paid to stay at the Swiss Alaska the following night because we couldn't get two nights at the roadhouse.
The roadhouse is full of history and charm and has an oustanding cafe as well. Breakfast will knock your socks off and keep you full for many hours. Unfortunately, our experience in Talkeetna showed that it can be a bit overrun with cruise ship tourists who pull into town hourly on buses, but they don't stay long and clear out in the evening, when Talkeetna's charm really comes out. Part of that charm is the roadhouse for travelers looking to save some money and stay in friendly accommodations that might not be the ritz, but are downright comfortable. Great people to boot. Recommended for travelers and families looking to save $$.
