High Tide Hotel is right next to the airport in Chuuk. That's not an issue because the daily flights mostly come in during the daytime. It's just on the outskirts of the main town so you won't get caught in the awful traffic congestion that seems to be part of the road construction.
The staff are friendly and the rooms are recently renovated and clean. The water in the pipes not so much, but that's more on the utility provider than the hotel. You can get a good deal on a room/car combo, but don't expect a luxury sedan. You'll get a car that will take you from point A to point B. The hotel's detached restaurant has reasonably priced meals, even though the menu isn't imaginative. Internet is free, though slow at times. There are no elevators, but staff will help you with your luggage. Air-conditioning and cable tv worked just fine. This is a cheaper alternative to the two better known hotels in Chuuk, but is worth the extra dollars you'll save if you're not in Chuuk to dive.
